As a shooting instructor over the decades, I've made it a point to keep extra clothes on hand for students who show up without the proper gear. I've also seen men who get brass down the shirt. When it comes to holsters for women, not being a woman, I've had to do a good bit of research to find people in the know of what really works for women and what doesn't. The first direction I point my female students in for holster suggestions is "The Well Armed Woman, LLC" This is a serious organization of women in the shooting sports field. That said, I've had a few questions from female students who've heard about the "FlashBang" holsters you'd mentioned and I personally think they're a bad idea. First they require a very small gun and very small guns are tougher to master than a big gun. Then there's the issue of where the gun is pointed as it's drawn from the holster. This is also the reason that I'm not a fan of appendix carry. I've also found some women on line who actually take the time to test some of the holsters made for women, like Hanna Hanna's KZbin Channel or "She Equips Herself" another YT channel by a woman who actually experiments and tests holsters for women. She is one I'd first heard of having a kydex insert made for belly band holsters in order to make them a viable option. As for YT Shooting Influencers I see them as entertainment. Alex Zedra is certainly easy on the eyes, but she's not someone I'd watch to learn anything from. I feel the same way about Scott from Kentucky Ballistics. He's fun to watch but let's face it, he's no Masaad Ayoob. One I've really learned a lot from was Paul Harrell, God rest his soul, and now Dick Fairburn, who I followed in print for a long time, has a YT channel now. These are the ones I turn to for information.

There's girls' shooting channels who dress, well barely dress. It's just weird. My biggest pet peeve are shooting channels that show people shooting with no backstops. They shoot at targets into the woods, field, etc. Pisses me off.

Loved the Thumbnail Brent, it is hilarious but I definitely had to watch the podcast. Thank you and Suzi for bringing up those points. All very valid and accurate. We are trying to promote the shooting sports as wholesome for families and all children to help in our fight against the anti 2A people. That kind of advertising doesn’t help our cause at all. Love these podcasts with Suzi and the points she makes from experience being an editor and from a woman’s perspective.

I like the hunting shows when the "Star" sees a MASSIVE bull elk. The camera gets nice action shots for a minute or two but the mighty hunter just can't quite get a shot. It's VERY obvious what's going on. The ranch/land owner/guide made the following offer: "Come here and hunt for free. You get content, we get positive exposure." "Shoot a 300-325 class bull so that we all look good. If you SEE a 370 class bull, get that sucker on film! If you shoot that bull you owe us $25,000."

It’s ridiculous. In Africa I was doing a show with Ruger. Two cameramen and a sound guy. If you saw an animal you had to wait until both cameras were set up and ready, and the sound guy did a sound check. By then most animals had run off. The guide eventually threw his hat on the ground and stomped on it in frustration. Roy

I went to a National NRA convention for the only time back in the 90's and Vihtavuori powder had bikini babes in their both. No customers there. All were lined up to get a poster from the young lady who advertised and promoted Ruger products. Wholesome, dressed like a business woman.

Well first, my wife says women don’t dress for men, they dress for other women so they are probably selling that product. And companies tend to track advertising effectiveness, so the ad probably works. And third, these two are not the target audience.

But I thought firearms were about protection of valuable things. Protection of values, clashing with self-denigration of values (marriage, reproduction, children, home, emotional maturity) is not a cohesive or clear message.

I’ve watched some of these ads with the half naked girls and while they may be attractive, I have often wondered what this has to do with the product in the ad. I usually see them when I’m shopping for my wife (like this time of year). Don’t get me started on some of these hunting shows. “Staged” is putting it mildly. Me and my brother have an analogy for this: If you see a horror movie with lots of nearly nude girls, then you know the movie is gonna suck. I’ll just leave it there.

Agreed Chris. Suzi showed our 35 year old daughter the video and afterward, she said, “I didn’t have any idea what the ad was about.” There you go. Roy

Hybrid athlete is a thing - to quote a knowledgeable website: "A Hybrid Athlete is essentially someone who can run a marathon, has the physique of a bodybuilder, and has the strength of a powerlifter." Somewhat related story: I know a gentleman who drives truck in Alaska, Fairbanks to Prudhoe. He was slightly involved in some episodes of Ice Road Truckers, a purported reality show, until the production company started directing the drivers to do things and create situations. The work was exciting enough as it was, but not exciting enough for a TV series.

I think since we’re in the industry and communicate with our readers and clients, we hear what they say and they almost always say this is a waste of time for a company to advertise like this. We may be foolishly trying to get them to understand that, but alas .. they rarely do. But if they want to, so be it ..? Roy

I am a red blooded male who appreciates a beautiful woman just like the next man. But it does bother me to Ser women using their looks to sell anything. I just find it disgusting. But it is not limited to gun bunnies. Look at the LPGA and how women's professional golf uses sex to draw the male viewer. An even worse one is female Olympic level gymnastics. They actually have standards of how skimpy the female athletes uniforms must appear. Of course they don't have similar rules for male athletes. My uncle told me that he asked his dad, my grandfather, how old enough when you lose interest in sex all the w. My grandfather said "How the hell should I know"? And he was 61 at the time. I just hit 64 last june, and I would still answer that same way. But I can appreciate a beautiful woman fixed, bot lust after her. And she certainly can't sell me anything, be it a legitimate product or not. I have to place much of the blame on our society growing more course every day. Morals seem to be looked at as a joke. Well to me, and no doubt many other people it is not a joke, but a big part of Americas problem. And until we get it fixed we will never get our nation back.

Wanna talk about over sexualized TV, look at the women in the Fishing Shows. What woman really goes fishing in a string bikini? You have big lures with treble hooks, you have gaffs, you have all the sharp surfaces on the boats, you have the fins and TEETH on the fish... and the dangers of the sun... and the wind. Most MEN wear long pants and long sleeve shirts, and a wide brimmed hat... especially in Florida, or farther south.
@fmgpubsАй бұрын
Bingo James. We don’t buy lures based on bikinis, eh? Roy
@jamesshank7918Ай бұрын
@@fmgpubs Nope, and I don't actually watch those fishing videos... I find them off putting. I will watch girls in skimpy swimwear surfing, diving, or ... at the beach. I watch the gals shooting Cowboy Action dressed for cowboy action and the gal who is a top shooter that dresses well, and shoots like a demon... As a veteran instructor, I'm like Suzi, if you aren't properly dressed for the range and put up a video, I can't get past the first few seconds. Click.
