Gun Drill aboard USS Constitution

A brief look at simulated gun drill (the process of loading and firing the gun) performed by the crew of the USS Constitution.
In the age of sail, gunnery was fairly simple and victory often relied upon the speed and efficiency with which a crew could load and fire its long guns and carronades. The US Navy sailors serving on USS Constitution today still practice gun drill.

I think its a wonderful tradition and don't care what the neighbors say. Thats like moving into to a house at the end of a runway...then complaining about the noise.

@cageordie That is a very good question. I believe a good gun crew from about the time that Constitution could do 3 firings in 5 - 6 min.

This is all fine and good but lets try this with a rolling deck under enemy fire. amidst the smoke confusion and abject mortal terror it becomes another thing all together. Thanks! Good video!

At 2:12 they pur in a iron ball, and at 2:47 they fire it xd I don't want to have a house on the other bank
