Firearm owner since 1978 and bought my first Glock in 1988. I've only seen Bass Pro Shops ask a new customer to go over a Glock customer safety awareness form and sign it.

Wow, not surprising though. Maybe these gun owners fined that were not given instruction, could ask the gun dealers to split the bill, ha ha.

If gun safety is a goal, all new guns should be sold with 3-5 snap caps (dummy rounds) for safe dry fire practice. This is a gun law I could get behind.

I use snap caps when teaching people to load and unload.

yes, dummy rounds should be added in to any CCW or other pistol course. I don't think a number of people know what they are used for

In IL he likely would have gotten his "Firearms Owner Identification Card" revoked for such an event. It can always be worse, help us fight the anti-2A tyrants in a disciplined way! We certainly cannot champion negligent discharges lol

It would behoove instructors to make sure they are covering safety rules, clearing AND proper use of live vs dummy rounds

So if I can't hit the target I can't pass your test even though I just got my gun and went through the safety part of your class . Lol I'm sure that's not what you meant but it sounded like it . But if they never owned a gun they are not going to be able to hit targets unless it's at end of barrel when the point the gun

Not true at all. I have seen newbies buy a gun and learn to shoot on the first try, I've seen this multiple times, so it works. It's not rocket science. Point and shoot isn't hard.

IF they want an NRA certificate, they must have at least 4 groups of 5 shots each, 4 inch groups or better at least 10 feet away. They must also demonstrate safe handling throughout the excercises
