Idk about you, However, when I first got started casting there was a point where I thought it was too much trouble and really did it just to save money, I think that everyone goes through that stage, some quit, some get passed it. Now I find it a rewarding part of reloading that adds challenge's at the range, is enjoyable to do and is verry low cost effective. great score. - Dave

If you just cast to save money it can be just another task to get done so that you can shoot affordably. A lot of competitive pistol shooters cast just so they have cheaper ammo. I've always enjoyed trying new bullets and loads and so that is the primary attraction to me.

@@314299 I'm in the same boat as you. It's enjoyable and rewarding. even if you have some molds that the loads didn't work out, you have a good chance of finding what load does work through experimenting. this turns into knowledge you can't buy or read about because you had to do it to find out. Btw, (Not that there is anything wrong with it) you have a beautiful #4 Mk-2 set up with match sights, have you found a cast bullet that shoots well in it? I have seen some of you videos that you were not impressed with the results you have got with that rifle.

Bullet molds are a cool thing making your own is also a fun task if you like saving money. I would like a 220 grain 30 cal for sub sonic probably won't need gas check at those pressures. Thanks for the show.
@3142996 ай бұрын
Yes if you keep velocity and pressure down you can often get away with no gas check.

Nice score, especially on the molds. Maybe powder coating those 6.5's would bring them up to a more useful spec.

Thinking the same thing, powder coating just might work.

Yeah I'm sure it would help if they turn out to be too small.

Just recently, I found 4 pounds of unique powder for $5 at an estate sale. It was not sealed, but the container was full. I thought it was a great deal and it came home with me.

Seems gotta grab what you can for powder these days. Gun shows are probably the best place to find it. I got a really old square can of 2400 at the last gunshow for $10.
@3142996 ай бұрын
That's a good deal. 2400 is a great powder, especially if you are into cast bullets.

That 105gn SWC is great in 9mm too.

That's what the seller told me as well. He said he used it for 9mm.

.I have no problem buying open csns of powder..usually the comevfrom folks who thought they wanted to reload but gave it up for one reason or snother

Yeah, a lot of people get all the gear and supplies and then never really use it.

RCBS dies will also work with berdan cases. Lee set would work as is with berdan. New decapper for boxer. x54r can use .223 rod for berdan repriming or get a 30 cal and grind off pin for berdan.
@3142996 ай бұрын
Most dies can be used to resize Berdan primed cases - either remove the decapping pin or back the decapping rod out to where it does not touch the bottom of the case.

I had some of those moments slip top cases but mine were hard to get apart. I think in the end I cut just a little off the edge to make it work better.

Great Haul Sir !Do you think that powder coating those 6.5 bullets will bump up the diameter?
@3142996 ай бұрын
I'm sure that powder coating them will get the diameter up if required. It's easy enough to add a couple thousands to bullets with a coat or two.

What auction did you score that stuff from?
@3142995 ай бұрын
It was at one of the "icollector" on-line auctions. If I remember correctly the vendor was "KOS Auctions".
