Never saw the shows featuring the Chodenji Robos. I do know the GaoGaiGar aspect, but it's the fact that each of the machines that combine into the El Dora V robot have a different color that reminds me of Power Rangers. In fact, the five colors involved are the same five colors possessed by quite a few Ranger Teams: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Pink.

Super Robot Wars T added more sadness to this by having Chizuru Nanba of Combattler V be named after their own Chizuru (which is funny because their Chizuru was a homage to Chizuru Nanba in the first place) so they get to watch a girl named after their deceased 5th member fight with a different combining Super Robot team while grieving for their Chizuru.

Not only that, but I always assumed the choice to name the Mexican-themed super robot team as the "El Dorado V" was inspired by Tomy's answer to the Yuusha series, the Eldoran Series (Raijin-oh, Ganbaruger, Gozaurer), which also got its name from the same rumored ancient city of gold.
