Gunasekhar, Director (25 years for Choodaalani Undi) | Prema The Journalist

Gunasekhar is an Indian Writer and Director who works predominantly in the Telugu film industry. He made his debut with Lathi (1995) and rose to fame with the 1998 highest grossing Telugu film titled: Choodalani Vundhi starring Chiranjeevi and Soundarya. Ramayanam (1996) directed by him, received the National Award for Best Children's Film. His popular films include Okkadu (2003), Choodalani Vundhi (1998), Arjun (2004) etc., each winning multiple awards at Nandi and Filmfare. He won the Filmfare award for best director - Telugu for the movie Choodalani Vundhi (1998).
On the occasion of celebrating Silver Jubilee Choodalani Vundhi, Gunasekhar revealed some unknown and exciting trivia of the movie that includes the title, Mani Sharma's composition, singers and lyricists, railway station scene, art department, Ashwini Dutt's support, inputs from celebrities like K Raghavendra Rao, performances of actors Soundarya, Prakash Raj and last but never the least - megastar Chiranjeevi and much more.

Prema garu, I have respect for you the way you make your guests comfortable but often talk hyperboles about them. Please don't get carried away in those hyperboles. Being a seasoned journalist, I thought you do some kind of research but I am disappointed about your reference in the interview about "Choodaalani Undi" being the first ever Telugu film shot in Bengal/Calcutta (at least in those days.). I feel both you and Gunasekhar garu got carried away. To my knowledge, some of the Telugu movies in early 1930's specially made by Chittajallu Pullaiah garu (of Lava Kusa fame) were entirely shot and made in erstwhile Calcutta. Here's the excerpt from Wikipedia regarding his work in Calcutta that was acclaimed internationally at the time. "In 1933, he made his first feature film Sati Savitri in Calcutta. It was the first Telugu film produced by East India Film Company and received an honorary diploma at the 2nd Venice Film Festival.". I like the way you make the conversation with your guests pleasant but please keep the hyperboles to the minimum so that the content of the conversation is more authentic and can stand the test of time. Keep up the good work.
