Black jewels are spent to "unequip" jewels in an avatar. Therefore, unequipped jewels can be used later for another avatar.

​@PedroFernandez-cr3kq If you have a "spring jewel", you can equip the jewel at any slot of an avatar regardless of the color of the slot. The special jewels are sold every April.
