16 here. If only there were a tabletop game featuring stompy robots with 40 years of franchise building and lore, building a huge expansive universe. Oh wait thats battletech. But then there have been fan made gundam tabletop games using adapted battletech or 5e style rules. Even gatcha figures have been used over the years for tabletop gaming, doing some search for strategy of gundam will likely turn up results about that. My theory is the cards will work like BT alpha strike, used for unit stats, armor hit tracking and such. Likely will include weapons and equipment to use with the unit card. So you'd grab a mini, with the corresponding unit card. Grab a pilot card, choose a ranged and close weapon and maybe sub weapons. Maybe theyll try some sort of equipment slot number. Who knows until they tell us more. My mainbhope is they dont lock cool stuff behind p bandai or try to do blind boxes. I understand the profitability behind blind boxes but let me tell you that it is incredibly frustrating trying to build forces when you cant select what you want or need. I would be ok with a limited release here or there but let me tell you who will not. Comic shops. Theyd have zero reason to support this or host game nights when all the desirable product is locked in pbandai. Theyre not happy with gunpla at one of my locals for that reason. Depending how bandai handles this is how well it will succeed. Their typical business model is not going to work here. They need to have product on shelves. They need auxiliary support, terrain, map scale ships, play mats, all that stuff is going to be needed to support this endeavor.

@@barrybb5409 agreed I hope it’s not blind box, having played a lot of Heroclix back in the day I know that pain. I hadn’t thought about p Bandai, but yeah that sounds like something they’d do. Hopefully we get to see the rules soon

If they save the prepainted or metallic coated for p bandai, that would probably be the best move for them. Also they really need to support all regions equally. No neglecting canada/europe with p bandai locked sets. Their usual hijinks are not compatible. It isnt working for the other game companies for a reason. Would be very bad timing to try to release something with that baggage when gamers are largely getting frustrated by those practices ya know.

I'm curious to see the gameplay and how the terrain works. I am seeing all these intro to Gunpla vidoes from KZbinrs I already follow and the molded colors and poseability of the figures were the selling point and they seem to just be doing plain minis. Maybe the game will scale with slightly bigger Gundam

Greetings! I could not agree more the games need to come out and then we as a community can let the developers know heres been our experiences. I am curious though for hobbyist that can kit bash and use green stuff what people will come up with. Especially for terrain on the board we could have some really cool space to space colony warfare.

I'm curious how big each game would be, from the video it looks like each player has a handful of models instead of something like a 40k game which usually has dozens of models in the standard formats.

by the look of things I'm going to assume similar to battletech, which has 4 mechs per side, but with much lighter rules

@@littlemisspipebomb4723 BT is on a points limit system - you could have multiple lances and vehiclles beyond a single lance depending on the point limit negotiated and your play space

You make a good point, but what about the fans that were introduced to Gundam from a series outside of the UC? Some people won’t be drawn to a product if it doesn’t include their connective starting point with the intellectual property…

I’m hoping it’s not locked into a hex based movement system. It would be cool to be able to play using the 1/144 scale gundam kits

A random mix of gear from every series up and down the time line is by far the worst thing they could have done. Should have started UC and it there was any demand add another time line like Seed or IBO.
