I'm a bit confused on "breach," even reading the rules. Is it just specific shield damage (say breach 5) that tramples over if you destroy a blocker?

Don't think of it is "Breach 5 does 5 damage to a player" but more like "Breach 5 does 5 damage to a single card in the shield area". This means it can do 5 damage to a single shield ( which has "1" HP ) or 5 damage to a base ( which means it would destroy most bases in a single shot ). Hope this helps!

It's not specific to blocker, breach 5 is an effect that does the number of damage next to the word "breach" (so 5 damage here) to shield area when the unit with beach destorys a unit (even if the unit with breach is destroyed) which would make your opponent reveal one shield or damage to a base which have hp and breach 5 destroys all shields at this moment

No, this is the entire card set for the beta. Set 1, including the 4 starter decks, will be closer to 150 to 200 cards.
