I'm actually very excited about the game. Base cards will be a key part of the game and are a fun new idea. I also like that you can react during the action step of your opponent. It makes for very dynamic turns. I also like sliding a pilot under a unit, because it's only 1 card at max. Not to forget that all unit cards in the game will have newly drawn artwork (and most pilot cards as well) and the graphic design/card layout overall is very clean and modern, a step up from their other TCGs in my opinion. The game shares a lot with their other games, but it seems like this takes all the good things and combines them.

Bandai always makes incredible looking art cards! As someone who also makes OPTCG content, I feel like I can't turn away from this. I love Guundam as well, G Gundam is top imo, but the mechanics of this are a little different and I think we need to try it before just turning away. I love how open you were about it and definitely would watch more if you made it. I was hesitant without having a leader when it came to Union Arena, but honestly it flows very well and it's fun which is always the best rule. PS Blue Yellow Ace is one of the best brotherleaders haha

I actually managed to get the Beta set around 9pm eastern today. There was a random restock, and I happened to be at the right place at the right time. I like the looks of the game, it is One Piece enough while also being unique. I like the Base system to protect your life instead of using cards in hand for countering. (imagine in One Piece if we could attack Lucci's stage to get it out of the way haha). One thing I am worried about is getting bad luck where you see none of your pilots in a game while your opponent sees them all. Makes the game an uphill battle real fast. I am hoping there is a reliable way to get out of a disadvantaged situation. Regardless, game looks fun, and I will at least give it a shot if only just to play casually. The art looks sick!

Well from the revealed cards so far there's at least 2 card draw effects already, 1 that lets you draw 2, and another to draw 2 and discard 1, with 4 a piece that's 8 card draws per deck right there, so I'm not that worried about consistency if the deck is built right, though, as with any TCG, randomness plays a part and it can (and most likely will) happen on occasion.

I also find it very interesting that for putting out a base, you have to remove a shield. But different to when taking damage, you don't discard the shield (and if you get lucky resolve burst abilities) but put it in your hand.

I think the only part about the pilot unit stacking that I personally like is it's basically them jumping in the unit. So in the fight in the show we see the unit more than we see the pilot after that. So it seems they made it so it kinda resembles that. Just an observation. I love Gundam Wing too!!! I hope this survives. It's going to be my second TCG. If it's not big I'm moving into SWU.

I need to see more of the game to actually get into it, so far i agree with the points that resources don’t have other utility and that shields don’t go to hand, but I do like the level system to restrict card to later.. but as a collector, those alt arts are pretty amazing, if they allow different art style like they did with one piece, I’m in

Duel Masters is made by Wizards of the Coast. It was originally conceived as Magic for a younger audience so a lot of concepts were simplified which makes it more fun in my opinion. It’s my favorite TCG. I wish it was still going here in the west

Hi Vv, first time in your channel, you just got a new subscriber, greetings from MX. I noticed you were wondering about the units fighting without pilots, that's a yes they can, and also, Pilots cannot be played unless you're pairing them with a unit (kinda like aura enchantments in MTG) and wherever the unit goes, so does the pilot, for example, if the unit is bounced back to your hand, the pilot is too, or if it is destroyed, so is the pilot.

My only potential red flag is that you just pick 2 colors and play whatever in those colors, might make the meta feel pretty bland if there isn't some way to lock powerful cards to one deck but I'll wait to see also I'd be interested in a few videos when the game drops don't know if I'd want more kinda have to see how fun the actual game is

I am worried how the pilot and gundam combo works to basically cast haste. I always worry when games based off a franchise feel the need to add perks based on following along with the show. If you want Heero and Wing zero to be combined. Fine. But it should be because the perk of the pilot and gundam fit the same strategy. But forcing the combo for a perk just reduces the game in a way im worried about.

I get your point, though I believe your looking at it from the wrong angle, Gundams are usually ace units, only ever piloted by 1 pilot with some special exceptions, so I see this system more about being lore accurate and so you get the "haste/rush" perk, also there are units that don't require a specific pilot but rather the pilot to belong to a specific faction/army and you get the same perk that way.

Death Sythe lets you draw a hard any time you discard a card from your hand and Dou just happens to let you discard a card once a turn. So the synergy is there so 99% of the time you would want to run them together but you dont have to

@@braydenb1581 That would be one way to do it, but frankly I prefer it this way, as it adds versatility (since, for example, not all pilots/units require the link, just to be paired) to activate their special abilities, and also, add some "realism" as even though lore wise the units are only piloted by specific people, truthfully nothing stops other people from doing so, though with diminishing and in some cases even lethal results (tallgeese literally offed a certified military pilot just from a test run), so the system opens up a lot of opportunity for effects like that, though for the moment it IS limited to "linked = rush, paired = just buffed")

I think an overwhelming number of people did not want this to be a hero/leader game. It doesnt work with the theme and so many games have a leader now.

I think it makes more sense with the gundam brand, its about war and the mobile suits wouldn't randomly heal after on battle, there also isnt ever a real leader so having a leader wouldnt make sense in gundam either, many people die but the war doesnt stop till everything is totally wiped. Appreciate the perspective but considering people alr are complaining the bandai games are too similar I wouldn't want more similarities esp if they dont make sense in the universe. We'll have to wait and see which plays better though feel its still too early to tell.

I had just graduated High School and was going in to college. I didn't go hard into TCG's until around 2008 and Naruto was not big in my area like MTG and L5R were.

My main TCG is Digimon. There is no leader either and it's also a Bandai TCG. Hell, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh don't run leaders either. Stating that you NEED a leader card system is silly. The bottom abilities are called Inherit Abilities, not traits, in Digimon. Digimon has A LOT of stacking, but Gundam won't. You're only placing a single card underneath a card. Also, Unit Cards don't NEED pilots. They can swing without them. The card you were showing was Wing Gundam (TV version), not Wing Zero. I'm curious to see if they're gonna include the Ver. Ka. Wing Gundam/Wing Zero. Regarding counters, they provide dice for that. Too essy. I was like you and started with Wing. However, I delved further into Gundam until I watched them all. In general, I feel like you didn't really watch the 40 minute presentation, or at least the gameplay demo, and it affects this video. You should have done a bit more of your research. I'm glad you're giving it a try in spute of your nitpicks.Will Gundam TCG become my new TCG? Probably not. I like what I saw, but Digimon will still be my #1 TCG because I like the constant draws and its resource system. However, I'm willing to make it my #2 TCG or at least collect cards of my favorite Gundams. At the very least, I like it more than One Piece and I don't hate that TCG really. By the way, yes, I would be interested if you covered the Gundam TCG on another channel because I'm not gonna watch anything related to the One Piece TCG and that's your main content.

Personally, I think that the Leader, and Mana systems are rather made to limit deck building, in the hope of isolating deck identities, keeping deck building within parameters, while Mana forces the player into an order to play their game each turn (Mana Curve). Leaders isn't something that TCG has "evolved" out of, but rather a way to dictate how deck composition works, where you are now not rewarded to play a specific card combination, or limiting other decks within the same super archetype (color). OP has had issues with colors being cornered into single leaders due to their power. While Skazuki was not banned, there was no incentive to not play another black, or blue (aside from Nami) deck because you were trying to accomplish the same as Sakazuki, but not as well. On the other hand, while a lack of leader allows you to play anything you want without restrictions, and lets you be much more free while deck building, its too easy to fall into "pile" decks, where you just cram as many good stuff in one deck (something Yugioh is currently suffering of). Both systems are good for different things, but saying "we have evolved past no-leaders" really sounds like it is coming out of a lack of understanding of other games, and familiarity with only a small set of systems. While I think you meant to estate your preference.

Vv, your basic complaint is the game isnt one piece. I like that because we have one piece at home. I agree that gundams should have a home base or ship that alters the game but i dont mind the game being not one piece. Especially since there will be damage that stacks up on units.
