No matter what anyone says, Gundam Wing still stays as my favorite Gundam series. Sure there is no magic Gundams here like the recent ones BUT the combination of the pilots itself (skills and intellect) and their Gundam units that reflect their fighting styles really adds to its charm. Also this is my fave OST.

There was just something epic about Wing Zero's signature beam cannon being so powerful that its recoil was enough to destroy Wing Zero. It almost says that the only thing powerful enough to take down Wing Zero was its own gun and thus you would definitely not want to be its target.

What I really like most about the Wing Zero is that it went down fighting. Even though it basically destroyed itself by firing the Buster rifle multiple times it didn’t go down even while being fired upon. Proving it went down fighting. All the other Gundams just self-destruct and that was it. You can’t compare the other Gundams to Wing Zero.

Really it only destroyed itself in the movie at the end because it was already heavily damaged from the previous fights. The wing Gundams can take a very high beating before they go down for good.

@@squirlking2 Pretty much. Wing Zero EW isn't quite as durable as Proto Wing Zero. A sacrifice for more speed and firepower. Plus Heero as always, didn't give a shit about a little thing like surviving. Just doing what it takes for that "mission accomplished" like he always do.

@@SniperCR39 yep, essentially the changes to wing zero custom are the added sensors on the arms for more accuracy. And the fruegels angel wings which where highly stylized to look biomechanical. Compared to the fruegels wings which actively showed the high output thrusters and mobility thrusters. The outer wings also can be used as shields and heat shields plus provide more mobility especially in space. The wiki goes over all the details. There's a certain description of how the outer wings work.

Boss made you mad? Twin Buster Rifle. Ex-Girlfriend giving you shit? Twin Buster Rifle. Don't like the people who you blame for the death of your father? You guessed it! Twin Buster Rifle. All your problems are gone. Except for the crushing guilt of committing mass murder.

The TV version of Wing Zero got renamed to Proto Zero. This is because the Wing Zero in Endless Waltz, now serves as its upgrade, in the manga Glory Of Losers(which is a retelling of the Gundam Wing but using the MG Endless Waltz designs)

Yeah, the sad part is its like katoki stealing Okiwara some credit. though I Love his Endlesswaltz design, I hate the fact that Bandai seem to erase what Okiwara has started. its a shame I Love the Original Design down to the OVA Endlesswaltz.. but hate the Frozen teardrop and beyond.. even the MG Epyon Looks Horrible compared to Okiwara design

You gotta remember wing zero was the prototype. It was mothballed because of the zero system being dangerous. And the other 5 Gundams where weaker then the wing zero prototype. It only became a reality because wuatra stole the mothballed designs after he lost his mind. And even more scary the zero system kept getting improved in the continued manga.

@@squirlking2 Take it a bit deeper. The Tallgeese is the ancestor for the prototype Wing Zero. With the Tallgeese they put way too much juice into that suit so piloting it was a serious physical health risk. What made Wing Zero dangerous to pilots was if they used the ZERO system in the cockpit and the toll it put on pilots mentally. In essence it took those crazy engineers three attempts before they created Gundam suits that were not a serious threat to the pilot inside!

@@lordhawkeye the zero system was further developed 3 more times beyond what we see in the show. Each time it got stronger but had drawbacks. The wing zero customs back wings are actually the tallgeese fluegels high output thrusters. Yes the tallgeese was the over tuned prototype deemed to fast for the average pilot to handle. And from it's data we got wing zero. But the zero system wasn't manageable so the wing 1 through 5 Gundams where stripped of it. Really in the show each Gundam pilot and a few other characters where exposed to the zero system. But only zeks and hero mastered it. Could you imagine a Gundam with the zero system, quantum drives, 00 Gundam armor and variable phase shift armor? It would be absurd but a massive double edged sword.

@@squirlking2 you forgot Quatre, he mastered zero system, but the way he used it is different. This also extends to Dorothy, they are both fighting with the zero system and it's shown in the TV series. The show was originally supposed to run about 60 episodes so there's a lot of plot/character mutilation. In fact, they were lucky to get 49, and sunrise originally wanted to cut them off earlier to 30 something episodes because they wanted other shows and didn't think it was successful, but it gained good traction and they were allowed to get 49 episodes. The Glory of Losers OP mentioned was supposed to help flesh out the story to the TV series where they couldn't, but there are quite a few differences. Endless Waltz is supposed to wrap up everything and I think it did pretty well. Frozen Teardrop is alright on its own, just seems to clash too much with the original story, could've been it's own line like After War, but I can respect Sumizawa's passion. The main thing is they have to sell more toys. That's what GW was really about to begin with.

To be honest if I knew they would all pilot the wing zero If they fit into one cockpit but it would be too power rangers/sentai ish for them to ride the same cockpit makes me wonder after they ask heero to borrow his machine if they would clean up or who knows what dirt could be on the seats or heero would probably give relena a ride inside the cockpit but it's also good thing they keep a locks in the cockpit or otherwise some idiot's could mess up systems by mistake and blow the machine by accident and then they would all be covered in crap

It makes sense that all of them would have a turn piloting it. The 5 doctors all contributed to its original design and the original 5 gundams were ideas spawn from its design. Another fun fact is that Heero piloted 4 different gundams and Trowa piloted 3. The remaining characters only piloted 2 during the main series.

Well...Quatre had it first, then some grunt that forced Duo to use it briefly, then said grunt, then Zechs (while Heero had Epyon), then Heero and Zechs switch suits, then Trowa and Wufei briefly to solve their memory and "I don't wanna work with these people" issues respectively (can't remember which order on the last two) before permanently being Heero's.
