He really is. I grew up in Portland and had the privilege of going to the same farmer’s market as him. He had small shows there all the time and when I was around 4 I ran across the stage and he laughed it off. He always said hi to my dad and I when he saw us. It was wild and so special to be able to share even that small connection with him and his music. His performances made me fall in love with music.

If not that, then one of his other albums. I certainly love his stuff as much or more than anything else I've enjoyed in 45+ years of loving music. This video is priceless!

I was looking on a retailers site at other music and searched to see if they had any Michael Hurley on hand. LIVING LJUBLJANA popped up. I hadn't heard of this one. Live performance recorded on DAT in Slovenia from 1995! It was released 2018. I highly recommend it. The sound quality is amazing! Soooo soothing. Great performance with vocal harmonies, an album to cherish.

Thanks for sharing! I´m in the process of learning some Michael Hurley songs, and I was wondering if anybody could help me out with the lyrics for the two first verses of Sacramento Rattlesnake/Big Black Spider? I would really appreciate it. I´m from Norway, so I have a little bit of trouble hearing what he´s singing here. This is what I got so far: The big black spider got in mye house with the ............?..........? I killed it but I do regret I even was ......?.......?...... The Sacramento rattlesnake will get you in the ......?......?...... THANKS! :-)
@khalidmusadaq89886 жыл бұрын
I can try to help, but only so little. Apologies. "...got in my house, with a white dash on his/its [incoherent] The rest is all too incoherent but it makes it fun to make up words when playing along. Enjoy.

The big black spider got in my house With a white dash on it that I saw I killed it but I do regret I even was there at all The Sacramento rattlesnake Will get you in the crawl You can not cure the heart of a witch They ain’t no good at all She might be chiseling my tombstone With the last day that I live She might be chiseling her lovers heart With the last thing that he’ll give The alligator ain’t no fish But she could be in the water You think you’d like to get a fish That gator could be in the water Taste the golden nectar from The honeysuckle vine I’m goin’ to my lover’s house And drink her poison wine The alligator ain’t no fish But she could be in the water You think you’d like to get a fish That gator could be in the water
