As a child I went to Warwickshire Castle and wandered down to the waters edge and came across what I was later told by my green fingered mum were Guneras. I remember them towering over me, vast leaves and the image of then stuck in my head ever since. Never had the right place or space In the gardens I have had sadly. They really are impressive plants 🤩

I’ve bought several, small plants from English nurseries but they rotted during the winter. My Neighbour grew a giant in dry ground in gravel, it survived so he’s given me an offshoot. They do grow very big as a waterside plant. My rheum palmatum has red flowers spikes and is also like rhubarb. .

Well I've gone and bought a manicata... I saw it one day and thought why not. My garden is small too but I've planted it out. Curiosity, more than anything. Now that I've seen yours though, I know this will be a failed mission lol. When the leaves get too big I'll just have to chop em off. Thanks for sharing!

They do take a few years to bulk up, so you should be OK for a while. Just realised I watched the video you done on it. 👍

@@jimspalmsuk5098 Cheers Jim, I'll keep an eye on it. Yours are 6 years in, right? I can't believe the width of those leaves. And thanks for showing the height of the stem too; really puts them into perspective. Keep up the good work!

I got sold a Tinctoria labelled as a Manicata at local garden centre and i was quite annoyed but ive planted it in a boggy corner so it will probably be big enough for me. How old is your plant?

They still get pretty big, my tinctoria is 6 year's old now. Started off as one tiny cutting from a work mate. It's now 3 large growing point's. 🙂
