i cannot believe Axl and Slash can play this THAT WELL at this age. 2023 GNR has been their best year since they reunited. Saw the Not In this Lifetime tour proper in 2019, amazing 3 and a half hour show. But these set lists seem to be insane, throwing out a few of the NITL tour mainstays and replacing them with deep deep cuts from Use Your Illusion and even the pre-Appetite era. What a time to be a Guns N Roses fan.

Objectively, Axl's mix/higher vocals are absolutely shredded compared to other artists of similar age. He was already showing signs of degradation in the early 2000's. He certainly can perform interesting vocals in the lower octaves but it's embarrassing watching him floundering for belts that he cannot possibly hope to hit.
@slashtrio Жыл бұрын
@@saviourself687I think you’re right. He is forced to sing falsetto for all the higher register parts (which is like 85 % ) which is why he has that Mickey Mouse kind of sound. He originally sang those parts in his full voice with power and screetch. I think he just shredded those cords man.

For literally decades now i have been saying to deaf ears how much more of a masterpiece UYI 1&2 are than Appetite. This song alone has lyrics that just weren't possible 4 years earlier than they were written. Same with Coma, Estranged, Don't Damn Me, Bad Apples, Right Next Door to Hell, Breakdown and more. Those songs (along with the amazing Izzy Contributions, and the rest, even shotgun blues is super badass) have depth and subtlety that show all the influences they had and are innovative in melody, structure, arrangements, but particularly lyrics. The ending of Coma is an existential statement of the deepest insight. Axl named Bernie Taupin as his favourite lyricist and on UYI he got to stretch out and get to that level. I guess it was always cooler at the time to prefer Appetite but not me. Though i LOVE appetite and it eas my favourite album of all time for years, UYI has depth thst appetite doesnt and that is why ive always stood by it as their masterpiece despite literally no one else I knew agreeing. I think only now it is really beimg acknowledged properly. Still no band in history has released 2 double albums of new music on the same day. Guess it just went over many people's heads.
