Axl's voice is in a very weird place right now. He finally has a good breathing technique down, and is singing in tune! He holds notes, has genuinely great vibrato, and has power behind it! But his rasp...idk if he's slowly strengthening it to get to that point, but it's interesting seeing his voice change as of late. He was at his absolute worst in 2022. He's not what he once was, but he's improved in many ways at the same time!

He's doing fantastic for his age. His rasp was in many places of this song but he can't trigger it for long. Nor it is as deep as it used to be. This song got some really tough vocals to sing. In the music industry, only a handful of 61 year vocalists can sound as decent as him.

Some of the stuff I saw from 2018 (I think) was the worst I’d heard. He’s gotten more solid since. Saw a great show in AC in 2021, he was really strong. Hershey this year was a little bit weaker, but he made up for it with showmanship, crowd interaction etc.

To be honest, I do not understand why Slash improvises on the first half and afterwords Rich plays note for note of Robin's solo perfectly. My question to the band is why doesn't Rich play the entire solo. In fact, Rich should be playing all of the Chinese solos by Buckethead and Robin in my opinion. His style is way closer and he is more accurate. Slash should just do rhythm on those songs. I'm not the biggest fan of Slash's improvising on those songs, I get it, Slash even admitted how hard it was to learn those solos because Buckethead is that technical, but at least play it accurately likely they did on your parts when you weren't in the band and they were back in 2000's, if not, get Rich to do it. Axl does struggle on this song, it is a hard song to sing but I'm glad they brought it back.

Yeah man, I totally agree. I think he's a little bit egocentric when it comes to playing Chinese songs. Probably, he considers that his style improves the songs (which I don't think is necessarily the case) or by bringing in his "original" approach, gives us the impression that all Gn'R albums are under his guitar tune. Anyway, I respect and love them!

@snakedriver He's aging fast my friend, and these songs aren't easy to sing. If he was a country singer, people would barely notice the differences. Listen to soundboard recordings of this year's shows. In a lot of the songs, he sounds amazing. I can give you specific examples if you like.

On this song he sounds better here than in 2006. Especially that high note. He is slowly regaining his rasp back. If you watch previous performances he never was able to do that "ALL BUT MEMORIES" scream very well but here he nails it.
