This is such a beautiful and meaningful song, I honestly thought this was a love song at first but it can actually be a meaning for anyone you've lost, I've recently lost my dad, who my best friend and we were like twins and when I listen to this I actually feel like this has more meaning now :( ''I will live through you, my spirit, I will guide you through'' dad lives through me and I feel guides me through this pain, a monster (death) has my dad trapped on the other side, I'm in a lot of pain since losing my dad but wanted to thank you for your music for helping me and thought it would be good to share my experience just in case anyone else is experiencing this and so that they don't feel alone :'(

God bless you friend, I hope time has enabled you to heal. It's a magical thing to have so much commonality with a parental figure like that, it makes you think we are all just spirits being carried on from person to person. You are part of that infinite continuum and you were blessed to have the contact that you were allowed to have even if it was all too brief.

my friends friend has a dream that he has been having all his life, he is about 23 years old. the dream progresses slowly, he is staring upon a black sun while standing in a barren landscape. years later he eventually turns around to look behind him, his vision of the landscape is blotted out with bodies, million of them. this album cover scares the shit out of me
@AlanGarcia-lm6wv4 жыл бұрын
This album cover is taken from the ending of an anime series called Berserk. Like in your friends dream the appearance of this black sun leads to death and bodies in a hellish landscape....Great song though! Its definitely worthy of the cover.

This was always my favorite song on Dark All Day but it was so hard for me to finger why. Since this album came out I've gone through a lot of change, shedding the worst parts of my mind and just recently came out as trans. I now relate to an interpretation of this song far more than ever before. Years ago even, there was something so uplifting in the message "rise the midnight girl". I dreamed I would have some kind of an awakening. I felt trapped in the body I never asked for, there was something wrong with my that I couldn't explain. To make the connection to the lyrics, I felt my mind was trapped in the monster, not ready to escape. After a lot of deconstruction and confrontation of my feelings, I've come to peace with my old self, still a part of me as I move forward in authenticity. This song, special to me for an unknown reason, finally clicked six years later.
