"Fade into you" represents to me when you love somebody so much that you reveal everything about yourself to them, all your secrets and interests and hidden talents, just all of you.. and then they move on not even realizing how much of you they are taking with them. It's not just sad to see them go, it's sad to see them take the best parts of you to improve their future selves while all you got from them was crippling depression. You've effectively faded into them. The bright light inside you has dimmed and their light has become brighter. It's so sad when it happens to you.

Easy to see why this atmospheric and mesmerizing song was used so much on film and TV soundtracks. It hooked me immediately when I first heard this on the radio, way back then. They had a wonderful sound, and Sandoval's voice elevates it to a heavenly level. Sad to hear of Roeback's early passing. R.I.P. He leaves behind his beautiful music.

I saw Mazzy Star live in the early 90s opening for the Cocteau Twins in Boston. It was a great show. I have always lovingly described their genre as country music for vampires.

@@MariaElena51185 You wouldn't beat that = small venue . Unless you saw them even earlier. I first saw DCD in a small venue in England in 1987 . The second best live gig I have seen in over 50 years ps saw the CT in a medium sized venue around 1992 in England. I prefer the music and voice of Lisa G to that of Elizabeth F. But they were both great then.

It’s a beautiful song. Timeless, takes me back to early high school years where the only pressure in life was tests, sports and girls. And to be honest I didn’t stress tests. Before life’s real stresses, the last great generation. Life before social media, when passing a note was way more nerve wracking than sending a text. Where butterflies would consume your stomach thinking about calling a girl. The most innocent yet beautiful crazy years of my life.

I remember when the only kid in our friend group ever able to affort CD's got this one & it was "borrowed" by all of us, until it came full circle & found its permanent home back in my collection, as I just couldn't get enough of it. It was the theme song to "my so called 90's life" & I eventually named my daughter after her, so yeah, I'd say it had an impact.

I think fade into you is about an abusive relationship she was in with a narcissist because it's just the whole song is describing a person like this and this just hit me a few days ago while i was learning about this stuff for my own personal growth. The whole first verse is describing the mindset and the place a narcissistic person exists in and partly the way she was with him like she wanted to please and help him so much but she couldn't. It was also what it was doing to her too because she kept looking to him to see the truth probably even about herself. She loved him or so she thought because he didn't really know it so why was he with her?. I think it's plainly obvious now it's just this stuff wasn't really talked about in the 1990s and before those times were simpler, less people, no social media or internet making it obvious, and people were happier. There was always just a more innocent perception about people too nobody saw anything bad exactly it was what it was so song lyrics were often vague about heavier topics.

When music is able to suspend your motion and clutch your psyche with mystical intensity, as was the case with Mazzy Star when I first came across them, you know it sits in the unique echelon of art. Part of what made this reaction by you guys so gripping is it mirrored the same reaction as me when I first heard Hope's voice; speechless, dream-like, and in awe. Her vocals feel as though you are ascending into the peaks of the upper-world. I would never have thought Mazzy star's alternative style would appeal to me at all, but since hearing Look On Down From the Bridge after that infamous Rick 'n' Morty episode - everything changed. This live-performance version at The Bridge is the best one for me . The resonance of the acoustics and sharpness of Hope's voice transcends any version of the song for me.

I was actually introduced to Mazzy Star by a high school friend I used to skateboard with. He put Blue Flower on one day & I've been a fan ever since. As a guitar player I think Roback is underappreciated, every note is just the right thing for the song at hand, he's a perfect example of the "less is more" approach and how effective it can be. Then there's Hope, and I don't think anything more needs to be said when it comes to her as a singer and a lyricist. Phenomenal.

From the lyrics I get the feeling the song isn’t even about a real relationship. When she says “in your eyes I see nothing” and “you move in shadows” she’s admitting she doesn’t know anything about this person. But at the same time, not really knowing them is what is enticing. The person is more alluring as pure fantasy than as someone whose flaws you know and that could hurt you.

To say a song is "misunderstood" is an interesting statement. What does it mean? Do songs have only one specific meaning? If it means something different to you, are you wrong? If a band does have a specific meaning in mind and is still misunderstood, doe it mean they did a poor job writing it? The things we want to know!

It represents to me her willingness to be involved, enveloped into the mystery of a person whose identity is as unknown to him as he is to her. Almost as if her existence to him is a whim, in her desire she disappears into a shadow of his existence, she destroys herself in the dissolution of her fantasy of love. This is an interpretation of rejection, not attraction. Almost as if the attraction itself is the rejection of her existence, not his. When she looks at him she sees nothing, she looks to him for the truth- I can also see this as a fantasy she's having about someone she saw, or met and what she encountered in that fantasy. Something to chew on. Oe elaborate. I don't know.

Back in the day when you only had to fund all your ep's, singles and albums whilst living on the road, in a truck, doing gigs, clubs and events with nothing to show for it other than the music. The record company and band would then reinvest 100-300k for an entry level video hoping to make it big on music TV channels 📺 You've also got the point when band members realise they, to be super or mega stars ⭐ are totally at the mercy of the public, cameras, their fan base and record company 24-7 🤦‍♂️ Not everyone wants to sell their soul 👻 Band members quickly run out of funds during the first 2-4years and being unable to raise millions for an epic music video 😔, they fade, fade into you 🤗 How resilient, determined and dedicated a person is relative in all our lives, we suddenly when younger have opportunities to become husbands, wives and parents, it's kinda of changes a person's focus not mention life on the road and doing certain shows is nog a happily life repeating the same songs every night for months on end +t requiring Hollywood actor style skills to give electric performances and interviews day in day out 😩

Have you ever done a episode on the band ORGY ? I think they might have a interesting history, seems something happened with the two guitar players the main writers I assume and the singer maybe I'm wrong just what it feels like but if you did the work I'm sure you could clarify and give us the scoop .
