I realized how popular Surbek was when I visited Germany. When I had a dinner at a Croatian restaurant, I wrote "Do you know Dragutin Surbek?" , translated in Croatian with my iPhone, and showed to one of the Croatian ladies working there. She smiled and swang her right arm like playing table tennis.

@@dickn.ormous1064 i read in a 1979 book of British national champion three things he mentioned i could not forget one: the top side spin hybrid shot of jonyer,2: the heavy top spin of hasegawa the ball look like slipping atop not bouncing anymore if it is really true.i search old KZbin clips.no. 3: im not sure i think it is surbeki forgot that's why im asking you even the British author.what i remember that player came from Eastern Europe his top spin or rather his loop has a strong sidespin different from jonyer it kicks sidewalk that puzzles both the Chinese and Japanese top players. I think it was surbek because his name my instinct is telling me.and in my research no other eastern players had this kind of ability not klampar.thans for info.i will tell you later the book and name of the British author.
