Jiaoyue Lyu performs “The Moon Over the Mountain Guan”. Filmed in The Astor Chinese Garden Court, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, April 13, 2016
This well-known example of Qin music from 1931 has a title identical to that of Li Bai’s poem, also performed to this tune. When interpreted by excellent musicians, the audience feels and understands the profound longing of soldiers on the frontier for the comforts and familiarity of home and family.
Jiaoyue Lyu’s guqin is hand-crafted by Ni Shiyun in Jiangsu Province, China.

This translation, “The Moon Over the Mountain Guan” is wrong. I translated it like you did,but did a bit research and discovered that the correct translation should be "Border fort, mountain and Moon" 明月出天山 Moon rising above Tian Shan 玉門關 Border fort of the Great Wall in the Gobi Desert in Anxi County, Gansu Province, Shuangtao Fort Here's the LI Bai poem 關山月 李白 明月出天山，蒼茫雲海間。 長風幾萬里，吹度玉門關。 漢下白登道，胡窺青海灣。 由來征戰地，不見有人還。 戍客望邊色，思歸多苦顏。 高樓當此夜，嘆息未應閒。 This is a better performance by 古琴名家篇·乔珊·琴歌《关山月》 She sang the poem too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/foSVhWiomcR1l9U
