When I was in the U.S Navy the the early 80s, I served on a Fast Frigate home ported in Yokosuka Japan. I recall that Shane was very popular in Japan, long after it premiered in the 1950s and was broadcast at least once or twice a year. I watched it once in a movie theatre in Kagoshima and all the seats were full. It’s a timeless classic film, it’s story touches people of all nationalities.

Nobody mentioned about Jean Arther who played as mother of the boy, Jean Arther was a very famous actress in 30’s and 40’s, I watched all her movies.
I hope somebody would buy that property or have permission to renew the cabin where this magnificent movie was made. Putting up a restaurant or something next to a museum or something like that, something to keep the memory of one of perhaps to most beautiful western movie of all!
