According to Gurjar inscriptions, they are Suryavanshi or Raghuvanshi. The ancient great poet Rajasekhar has called the Gurjars as 'Raghukul-tilak' and 'Raghugramini'. The artifacts of Suryadev on the Gurjara inscriptions of the 9th to 10th centuries also confirm his being Suryavanshi. In Rajasthan, Gujjars are still respectfully called 'Mihir', which means 'Sun'. According to some historians, the Gurjars were Aryan warriors from the Caucasus region of Central Asia (present-day Armenia and Georgia). Some scholars also call them foreigners because the name of the Gurjars is found in an inscription with the Huns, but there is no historical evidence for this.
