hey i researched a little and heres what came up The two elaborate functions, one at the time of engagement and the other at the time of the marriage of the Guru, gave the outside observers the impression of two marriages. They had reason to assume this because a second name was also there, i.e., Mata Sundari Ji. After the marriage, there is a custom in the Panjab of giving a new affectionate name to the bride by her inlaws. Mata Jeeto Ji, because of her fine features and good looks, was named Sundari (beautiful) by the Guru's mother. The two names and two functions gave a basis for outsiders to believe that the Guru had two wives. In fact, the Guru had only one wife with two names as explained above. also mata sahib kaur wasnt guru gobind singh jis wife jus the "queen" of khalsa.. since guru gobind singh ji was the "king" of khalsa people thought they were married. correct me if im wrong thsnks

Guru Gobind Singh ji had one wife. Mata Sundri ji and Mata Jito ji were both the same people. Mata Jito was also called Mata Sundri Kaur. Mata Sahib was the mother of Khalsa not the wife of Guru Gobind Singh ji. Mata Sahib Kaur did not marry Guru Sahib. People just got confused of these three names and made them Guru Sahib's wives.

I've been watching your videos since a year now, and I love them! But on this topic I disagree with you. Guru Gobind Singh Ji had one wife; her name was "Jeeto" Ji in her maternal home, after marriage the name was changed to "Sundri" as it was a normal tradition in that time to give a new name to a daughter who was starting a new life with her husband. The name "Sundri" Ji was changed to "Mata Sahib Kaur" when she took Amrit on the memorable year of 1699. Just a humble request that please don't mix Sikh history. It is already getting changed on a way larger level by RSS! Every Sikh should stand on this statement that Guru Gobind Singh Ji had ONE wife and after sacrificing the Chaar Sahibzaade she was declared the mother of Khalsa Panth!

Guru Gobind Singh Ji had only one wife. Her name was Ajit (Jeeto). When Mata Gujar Kaur Ji saw her, she called her Sundari and then everyone else also called her with that name and forgot about her old name. When Mata Sahib Kaur Ji (Sahib Deva Ji) 's father came to Guru Sahib, he refused to marry her because she had already married Mata Sundari. He then agreed to let Mata Sahib Kaur Ji stay in his house, BUT he did not marry her. During the making of Amrit, Guru Sahib then announced her as the Mother of Khalsa Panth.

Well the answer is simple It was acceptable at that time. Guru Hargobind Sahib got married at the age of 8. It doesnt mean that Guru Arjun Dev ji promoted child marriage. Customs culture change with time. When question something that happened centuries ago we should keep society of that time in mind. And those who are saying or promoting name change thing and marriage and stuff can the provide any historic source. Guru Bilas patshai 10 talks about 3 marriages. Suraj Parkash 3 marriages. Navin Panth parkash of geyani gayan singh 3 Marriages ... Now I would like to know the source of sakhi on this name change stuff. If there is any. There are even 3 different Gurdwaras where Mata Jito ji, Mata Sundri ji and Mata Sahib devan cremation was done. Lets see guru learn from his life and teachings and become sikhs. Not first become sikhs and then starting painting how our gurus life and teachings should be.

I like watching this channel. But my friends come on, how can you believe Guru ji married more than one. because this is spoiling the principle of equality. If you are reading somewhere wrong histories, these are manuplated to confuse the people who like the principles of sikhi. same like if guys know how many books from the library of shri Harimandir Sahib ji in 1984. he is absolutely right, This is the issue in sikh community we have so much freedom in regards to religious practices that we are taking them for granted. Just see in case of Christian and Islam, they do not dare to ask if you tell them this written in their holly book or this what their prophet said, that is enough for them. They do not even think about questioning it which is good in sense because you are follower of the faith which you have choose you have to love your murshid or guru, you should love him blindly. Jae tu khel prem ka khelan ka chao ser tar gali meri aao.. Its about that. I am not going to describe the personality of guru because many famous writers has describe him as someone who has personality that world has never seen above any avatar. however you are not discouraged to ask question, you can get you self clear about why he did that just google it.

The freedom to question and even encouraging people to question is what distinguishes something from being a "Cult". As soon as you forbid people from questioning the scriptures or the Gurus,it creates a horde of mindless followers,like in a cult,who would do or believe anything without questioning. That is dangerous. So if you have faith in the "Panth" you should encourage questions. There is nothing wrong in saying "I dont know yet, i have a lot to learn, I will research your question.", than telling people to not question scripture or the Guru. In old times the royalties used to marry to end discord or war or to join hands and be united. Making someone your relative by marrying into a family was the safe way of uniting and assuring peace.
