WOW.... So timeless. Been married 20 years, the wife calls this "our song". I introduced this to her in 99 and she's loved it since. Got me all emotional... PLUR.

Stands up against the best modern dance music- and I still buy dance records- and there is some ground breaking modern music. I heard this on a tape of a local Baltimore DJ and went searching for it in record stores in the mid-90s. There was no internet to speak of for finding records- especially when you had no info to go on. And I fucking found it! In a basement record store in NYC. What a feeling!

I agree... I hung out with some good DJs and producers in the late 2000s and 2010s and whilst they love this music they always mentioned it was old or unsophisticated.... I never got that... hopefully it's getting a rebirth!!!

You'd probably like this series "White Lines" on Netflix its a murder mystery set in Ibiza in two timelines 20 years apart, revolving around DJs Its pleasantly cheesy at some points, but the sound track was a highlight

v Ahhh.... Reminds me of my college days at Stalingrad State. We used to requisition a washtub from the unwashed masses and mix grain & vodka alcohol with grape juice and ginger ale and stir with the rifle butt of an AK-47.We called it "Purple Lenin" but others called it "Magic Marx Juice".

@@bandfromtheband9445 You must remember we had no western music until the 90s so it was a wild and happy time discovering 50 years of rock music in a few years. Until then, we only had random bootlegs and smuggled tapes - mainly of Roy Castle and the Grumbleweeds - they were very popular along with Smokie and Roy 'Chuby' Brown, and the Rubettes.

Wtf is up with this whole need to label, classify and subdivide music? This is definitely a construct of the younger generations who are nothing without a social media profile and were given smart phones and tablets from a very young age. Back the day no one said a word about what genre the DJs were mixing. If they did they were classified as dorks and sat in the corner all alone, no one paid any mind to them while we danced our asses off.
