It's because China doesn't want to recognize Taiwan as its own country, so Chinese viewers most likely saw this as a sign of some kind of solidarity with her own country and the fact that they want to be recognized as a Republic within itself. I agree, it's crap that she had to apologize, and the way China treats Taiwan, silences it, and brutalizes its citizens is the whackest thing to this date. But, sue to Tzuyu's status as an idol, they're not allowed to create controversy, or basically have any opinions on political subjects among other serious world related themes.

Imma go explain why and add some info cause I’m bored. Some Taiwanese singer reported at weeaboo stating that Tzuyu said on a certain show that she wanted Taiwan to be separated from China. The Chinese immediately believed him and they didn’t even watch the video. They blamed her and forced her to apologize which angered Taiwan because the Taiwanese know that she did nothing wrong and China forced an innocent SEVENTEEN year old to apologize. The people who were running for president at Taiwan used “let’s protect Tzuyu!” advantage to win the people’s hearts (politicians 🙄), so everyone at Taiwan is against that Taiwanese singer. Afterwards, China got mad at the Taiwanese singer because it was his fault on why the confusion worsened between Taiwan and China. The media of China later found out that Tzuyu did nothing wrong and she was just waving the flag, but the Taiwanese singer continued to claim that she wanted the separation of both lands which made the Taiwanese even more mad. However, from what I know, the Chinese media didn’t really do anything? I’m not sure...I didn’t really research on this. I think this is why the Chinese still hate her. It’s because they still do not know that she did NOTHING wrong. Not to mention that they don’t have google, fb, etc. EDIT: Fun fact- Taiwan wanted the Taiwanese singer to leave and migrate to China, but he refused to leave because of his health insurance 🙄🙄🙄

I honestly find it strange that people are criticised for lip syncing. Is that really the worst thing in the world? Of course not. Usally they have to dance and sing. Like seriously, you try doing both then get back to me. There's probably many reasons for idols lip syncing, but I don't think they should get attacked for it.

Because theyre idols, and the only job they had is to sing and dance, and were not, because were not idols obviously, we werent up for that task, we didnt train for that and make that as our job. while some can do, i cant, brcause im slow and timid but i have ears so i preferred to hear them sing. the turmoil probably is because theyre part-singers(idols) but they cant sing, and theyre not gonna search for validation that they cant really sing, theyll just see and hear in that moment, altho its gonna be easier to accept and forgive that they lipsynced after time passed, its just in that moment where you focus your sense on your ears like you expect to hear their voices (and where you werent feels like betrayal hahaha)

yuizari1 Yeah, we weren't trained for that stuff. But idols are still human, I think most of these idols can sing, obviously some do better than others of course but I think most can sing. I understand, you want to see your favorite group sing live and you might feel "betrayed" that they lip-synced, but again, there still might be so many reasons why they aren't singing live. They are still human, maybe they got sick, maybe today it's harder for them to sing and dance. There are reasons. It's like your expecting utter perfection from these idols and when they do one thing that's even slightly disappointing, "their terrible," "they can't sing". I think it's just unfair to expect absolute perfection from your idols all the time.

When they were about to perform, one of the SBS staff critized them saying " why are they doing musical again?" in a rude way and it can be heard through the members earpiece. The members expresion was not good especially Eunkwang. Even their performance was cut short. i'm agree with the diet problem.. for me, i'm pretty thin and my friends always say that i must eat more to gain my body.. but, when i take a picture, my body looks fat.. and then there's my friend who really really thin, when she take a picture, he body looks ideal and normal.. camera lense can make everything..

Well they do need to maintain a good image to fit in with korea's harsh standards of beauty and acceptance. But they do well when their name is heard and they recover from too much or too little weight gain. These girls accepted this job and knew what they needed to do for their job and to put smiles on peoples faces. Korea is so harsh on women.

No matter how much an idol weighs, they will be criticized for being too skinny, too fat, or both. Its like a cycle. They will get skinny, then some people will say they are too skinny. Once they gain back their weight, some people will say that they are too fat. I remember that in one show, Jung Chaeyeon was talking about that if her weight was in the 50 KGs (aka if it was over 110 pounds), she would be kicked out of the company. Of course, for some people that's natural but she clearly didn't like that rule and said she was starving from constantly dieting. Poor kids.
