Thankyou Stuart and carol for another great show full of tips and tricks…and thankyou for answering my question . Boule fabric is beautiful OMG the construction / engineering involved is scary BUT wouldn’t a Channel ‘ inspired ‘ jacket be fabulous ❤️

There's so much work in one of those jackets, if done in the style, and with all the interlining and linings!

Thank you for the answer to my question. Batman's mask at 21:02 was an amusing surprise. It's nice to see that a proper expert also lays a fabric edge against a ruler. I sometimes do that with a mobile fabric before cutting out.
How does Carol keep her focus? Doesn't she 'fall out of love ' with doing so much work, that must be perfect?

I think it is just the love of building things and the satisfaction of learning more about the craft with each new project.

Love these discussions and the way the lessons are integrated. Am trying to get up the nerve to make clothes again -- did a lot years ago but now the expense of the fabric and patterns are a bit daunting. Fun to get some tools/ideas for problem solving when sewing garments. Thanks for doing these.

I have seen 2 pattern suggestions for Luke's dress - PatternCos Weddy dress and Viki Sews Harley Dress if that is helpful Carole. I did manage to get the whole show watched this week - fascinating.😎❤

Thank you Stuart and Carol. Another enjoyable video. Carol explains things so much better in regards to all the styles and techniques. A lot of it is way above my head. but still very interesting. OOOh I like the idea of Carol bringing a knitter along, that will be brilliant for you Stuart, just your cup of tea. Something to look forward to in the coming months. Thank you both again. 🙂🪡🧵

Wonderful show as usual, so informative. Carol is just amazingly knowledgeable and makes things make sense. Love the idea of different crafts like knitting, patchworking, quilting etc. you should be on TV

Brilliant as always - I don't actually make clothes but I just love watching Carol showing how it's done - it's like engineering with fabric!

Such great tips! Carol is fantastic. I thought that black and white dress was very Chanel. I'm no fashionista but I was confused now I feel better. Thank you Carol! I made it to the end! The idea for a knitting show would be great. Then you would taunt me with that awful concept of steeking. I know. I get it. But, it still scares me! I don't think even Carol could help me and if she couldn't, who could? I can't cut my own bangs. How am I going to cut the knitting that I worked so hard on and so carefully didn't drop a stitch....hack away....oh no oh no oh no no no!

Re the sewing in a chain as per the semi final - could you sew a channel similarly to that for boneing? So enjoy your programs. Thank you
@carolalayne15552 ай бұрын
Thank you, so glad you enjoy the programs! If I understand your question, the boning needs to be secured in a channel, where the chain is simply applied to a piece of fabric. Therefore, 2 different things are at play.

Stuart I sent you something. I hope it doesn't take a month for it to arrive and you will be able to use it. 😊 carol thank you for answering my questions. I often like to change a sleeve and sometimes I think the sleeve looks odd when completed. I had an epiphany thinking maybe I should be raising the sleeve head. Maybe my pitch is wrong. Practice, practice. Yes to a masterclass in sleeve wrangling. I am looking forward to more info on the masterclass whenever it is available. Great show Stuart and Carol ❤ as always.

Our last demo of the series as next week we finish as always with a celebration of the 3 sewers and what they have made in the final. Enjoy the chat on Gussets and Bouclé / Tweed. It was a long one, so use the chapters to jump to bits you want to watch. I really enjoy these chats with Carol. Make sure you see her Tweed Jacket that she is creating! 31:08 - its AMAZING!!!

Yes, exactly. The LBD is deceptive, there is nowhere to hide. I thought the bias cut dress was a wise choice, but there were several finishes that were not attractive in the final piece.

@@carolalayne1555 I couldn't see them on my tv, but having made a Belville Sassoon evening dress, with faux fastening, triangle godet for part of the top and self lining, I can well imagine the poor stitching and finishing, and in that timeframe! Took me a week for my dress!
@carolalayne15552 ай бұрын
@@fanp1188 the seamstress here is a very fine technician and I admire her work. She will finish first or second in the competition. However, the finish on the butterfly sleeves was not clean, and the upper bodice was not long enough to accommodate the bust, making the pleating at centre front above the bust and in the wrong position. In a made to measure competition, the judges should have caught this.
