At first, only France and Italy were of any interest in this year’s competition. Yet, watching Belgium’s entry today at the second semi-final, I stand corrected. While Boy George did this same act decades ago, I gotta give props to this entry. I assert there are way too many acts in the Grand Final. Way too many. Oh, the highlight of the second semi-final? The drag queens owned that stage. Owned it. Lastly, Hannah Waddingham is a goddamn national treasure.

😦 Earlier, I have read a big number of comments not supporting Gustaph's song. 🤔 But... come on, let's look at the reality: 🇧🇪 Loïc Nottet wasn't favourite and his song was commented as something freaky. But he was 4th on ESC 2015. 🇧🇪 Blanche had same problems and she was bullied because of "her weak perfomance" (it's false, Blanche is amazing). But she also has become successful and she was 4th on ESC 2017. 🇧🇪 Let's look at semi-finals. Belgium is often last by order in lists of qualified countries. It always causes fear for Belgium in semi-finals and makes our hearts fragile. 🇧🇪 The point of that is Belgium has never easy way to make own successful and universally approved perfomance. 👍 So, good luck, Gustaph. Belgium, last year with that, great and top singer, totally underestimated. The song was a powerful rnb ballad, one of my favorites. But, regardless of a far lower ranking than it deserved, the Belgian song from last year entered the top 50 viewed on YT for 2022. Quality always surfaces. This year, Belgium has an equally high-quality and interesting song. Again a retro sound, again a top performer, and this time great back vocals, which give this song a special charm. The song just drives. Medju top 5 is on my list. Amazing. All congratulations and praise, as well as all support for Belgium!

IMO it's a better dance track than other more popular among Esc fans this year. That 90's vibe can appear not original but always sounds fresh the same. It reminds me a bit of the youngest Take That with a bit of Jamiroquai (also in the look). I hope for a great performance, it could be a big surprise. I think even the jury could appreciate it a lot. i have a theory that very 90's sound (which i think some see as dated, but i think it's officially retro chic) is an intentional homage to queer 90's culture, which fits with the lyrics. i see the "you" he's singing to as all the elders in the community that put in the hard work and survived, all while dancing to this kind of music. it feels very sincere despite the genre of music that can often be just background at a club, i think it's just lovely and i wish him the best.
