Mahler manqué, I'm afraid. Perhaps it's a fault of the recording, but there are some moments where the wrong parts seem too prominent in the mix, or odd near-dischordancies that shouldn't be there. Particularly at 2:59 - 3:29, where the performance turns into such a wall of sound that "the tune" (i.e. the line representing the mezzo-soprano soloist in Mahler's original) is totally buried. A passage not helped by the soprano singing the violin obbligato line: perhaps it's due to the recording engineer's mixing rather than the soloist herself, but she is much too loud, worlds away from the lullaby delicacy of the violin in Mahler's original.
