FINLAND, THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD?

Since 2018, and for five years in a row, the World Happiness Report has named Finland as the happiest country on the planet.
In its 2022 edition, it highlights that Finland has obtained "a score significantly higher than that of the other countries in the top ten positions".

Regarding the other Nordic countries, Denmark has been second, Iceland third, Sweden seventh and Norway eighth.
Finland has a lot to offer: the standard of living is high, the society is safe, everything works well, and nature is always a few steps from home.
Finland has striven to create a society that has an infrastructure for happiness.
Finland's social systems support democratic governance and human rights, as well as free, or almost token, education and healthcare.
But the people of Finland know that satisfaction and contentment do not appear out of nowhere. It is necessary to build and maintain the culture and social institutions that constitute the base and framework in which individuals and communities build their happiness.
Happiness could be described as one of the general goals. In terms of values, Finnish and Nordic happiness are related to trust and freedom.
People in Finland tend to trust each other, public officials and their government, which does not mean that they mindlessly obey authority: even if there are disagreements and discrepancies, discussions take place in an environment of openness and transparency .
Finland's consistent success is due to factors that also appear in other international reports, indices and comparisons. Finland is the most stable and least corrupt country in the world, and it is the first in political and civil freedom.
It ranks second in press freedom, third in children's rights and fourth in education. Finland is also the country in the EU where citizens express the most trust in each other.
Also, nature is never far away in Finland. The tranquility of its forests and the transparency of its lakes invite everyone who comes to enjoy its splendor.
But faced with so much positivity, we ask ourselves: Are the Nordic countries really the best place to live? They are the avant-garde and therefore it is interesting to observe them, but so much good qualification also seems to be fueled by the need to spread a certain political and social model.
A model that surely would not fit in other latitudes, with another idiosyncrasy, other needs and other potentialities.
It is true that they have managed to combine the most honest competition with total transparency and low corruption, with a policy of redistribution with high taxes but spent efficiently.
But surely other less successful parameters are hidden in the posts.
As a result of having such a solid welfare state, they receive numerous migrations looking for a place that ends up being subsidized by the state, but thus, far from attracting world talent, like other countries, they receive political refugees who are not very productive and end up being deficient.
One wonders for how long, if at all, these countries will remain the happiest in the world.
