Gusty Day on the Cape Fear | Catalina 25

On a gusty day on the Cape Fear River we took our Catalina 25 out for a somewhat sporty sail. With winds 12-15 knots, and gusts in the 20's, we chose to sail under reefed foresail alone. While not bad conditions, this was the strongest winds and gusts we have sailed in, so I thought managing one sail would be a little easier and less stressful.
Heading in the direction I WANTED to go, we were also fighting a 2-3 knot current, so initially we did not make great headway. It looks like transient season is beginning so it was much busier on the river than I expected. While we didn't make it to where I wanted, we had a good day on the water and experienced conditions outside our normal.

We have really enjoyed it...been a great boat to get us back into sailing. Looking forward to getting some longer days on the water. So far we've really only been able to manage shorter trips in the river. Thanks for watching...and thanks for sharing your sailing adventures!
