I truly believe it does not take much intelligence to be a Journalist today. Back in the day, those great men and women took their job seriously, were unbiased, researched and used their intelligence. Journalists today spew lies and biased gibberish. They seem to think that their submissions are essays on a 6th grade book report level - embellish and lie just to get their total of 250 words requirement...

I'm a Vietnam ERA Vet. I make a point that I didn't serve IN Vietnam. You do NOT tell people you carried weapons "in war" when you didn't. You do NOT tell people you held rank that you didn't. You do NOT tell people you earned awards that you didn't. To do other wise is to dishonor your own sevice and cheapen the service of those who did. It sounds to me that in the National Guard this man would have been called a "paper soldier". It is sad that he could serve that long and still BE a Paper Soldier.

My mom was a Navy 'ditty-bop' (morse code) during Vietnam. Never, ever was there any fear of being anywhere near a combat zone. She is still 100% a "Vietnam Veteran" as is everyone who was in the service during that campaign. Every single thing that everyone did in the military during that time frame was directly tied to the actions of those doing what they did IN Vietnam. Personally, as someone with broad-spectrum military career (AD, Guard, and Reserves), I'm proud of my contributions with no need to embellish and for sure no need to outright lie about anything. I was support. Through OIF, OEF, & GWOT... I was never called to go, so I did my jobs from stateside as instructed, always assuming I would get the call that never came. Still an OIF Veteran. Still an OEF Veteran. Still a GWOT Veteran.

Actually, he DIDN'T "RETIRE." He had ZERO Regular Army time, which means to reach full retirement as a Weekend Warrior, he would've had to do 40 years in the National Guard. With 24, that's equivalent to a Regular soldier leaving after 12 years. He received a GENERAL-GRADE Article 15 for Refusing Deployment Orders. HE WAS BUSTED to E-7 Sergeant First Class, and DISMISSED from the National Guard under "General" Conditions. LESS THAN HONORABLE. FINALLY: His EERWA was 118! That's HORRIBLE! That tells anyone who was ever an NCO or commissioned officer that Walz WAS A DUD. His unit was no doubt MUCH better off without him.

This is what many people don't seem to understand. I'm an OIF, OEF, and GWOT Veteran. I was never "in country" or "in combat". There was always a chance, my number was in the 'bucket' to be called upon, but that call never came for me. My jobs (and there were *MANY*) were mere supporting roles, to include deploying and redeploying other members to go do those jobs in my place. I wasn't a "tacticool" military member, just a simple cog in the machine that had to function smoothly and effectively to support those guys to go do what they do. My career is no less honorable because I never earned a campaign ribbon or combat action. Noballzwalz is still a slimy liar, even from my perspective: a nobody that still holds valor in my actual and well documented service.

He was never in a combat zone so cannot talk about the 'weapons of war' that he 'carried in war'. The truth is that his group (of which he was a leader) was scheduled and deployed to Iraq. He decided to 'retire' and not go with them. Then he lied about his rank at his time of retirement. His actual service was aparently honorable. WHY did he feel like he needed to inflate it by lying? That was one of the worst sound bites he uttered. If a Constitutional right isn't reciprocal between states, then driver's licenses, vehicle registration, birth certificates, high school diplomas, and so on would be even less valid as they are merely administrative documents within the state and have no Constitutional framework applied.
@scotthannan8669
@scotthannan8669 Ай бұрын
@@tcortez that’s exactly how drivers licenses and many other things do actually work. The states create interstate compact/agreements that allow one states’ drivers license to work in another state . The constitution was created by 13 separate sovereign nations who decided to cooperate, and part of that agreement was that the states would retain some degree of sovereignty. Here we are 250 years later and you are simultaneously griping that we have too much involvement from the federal government and not enough sovereignty for the states, but this struggle was baked into the constitution from the beginning. That’s why a person can be tried in state court and in federal court, because these are not considered the same and therefore not double Jeopardy. In fact most of our rights didn’t apply the same way before the 14th amendment blurred the distinction quite a bit. Today’s federal government has Tremendously greater amount of power than the one envisioned by the founders, but we also have a pretty awesome Nation with 50 individual experiments in democracy/republicanism and where the most powerful nation on the planet. It bugs me when Donald Trump tries to run down the United States and call this place, because I personally believe as an American that we are not perfect, but we sure are pretty freaking awesome.

As more states were admitted, sectional division over slavery led to the secession of the Confederate States of America, which fought the remaining states of the Union during the 1861-1865 American Civil War. With the Union's victory and preservation, slavery was abolished nationally. By 1890, the United States had established itself as a great power. After Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, the U.S. entered World War II. The aftermath of the war left the U.S. and the Soviet Union as the world's two superpowers and led to the Cold War, during which both countries engaged in a struggle for ideological dominance and international influence. Substantial autonomy is given to the states and several territories, with a political culture promoting liberty, equality, individualism, personal autonomy, and limited government. One of the world's most developed countries, the United States has had the largest nominal GDP since about 1890 and accounted for 15% of the global economy in 2023.[m] It possesses by far the largest amount of wealth of any country and has the highest disposable household income per capita among OECD countries. My brother was in the U.S. Navy at the very end of the Viet Nam War. His service record shows he served in the Viet Nam war. On one occasion I called him a Viet Nam veteran. He lit up with his usual charming smile and pointed out that he never set foot on Viet Nam soil. He was off the coast of the country barely in sight of it. "I am NOT a Viet Nam veteran," he finished. Tim Walz should have done the same.

British colonization led to the first settlement of the Thirteen Colonies in Virginia in 1607. Clashes with the British Crown over taxation and political representation sparked the American Revolution, with the Second Continental Congress formally declaring independence on July 4, 1776. Following its victory in the 1775-1783 Revolutionary War, the country continued to expand across North America. Following the Soviet Union's collapse and the end of the Cold War in 1991, the U.S. emerged as the world's sole superpower, wielding significant geopolitical influence globally. The U.S. national government is a presidential constitutional republic and liberal democracy with three separate branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. It has a bicameral national legislature composed of the House of Representatives, a lower house based on population; and the Senate, an upper house based on equal representation for each state. The U.S. ranks among the world's highest in human rights, economic competitiveness, productivity, innovation, and higher education. Its hard power and cultural influence have a global reach. The U.S. is a founding member of the World Bank, Organization of American States, NATO, and United Nations,[n] as well as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
