Its only after you've heard it slow twice that you realize how lightning fast this jam is at 100% speed. Holy crap. So tasteful too

I first heard of GG in 1998 in the Guitar Technique Magazine. I first got into his funk rhythm lessons. Totally blew my mind.

The guitar solo isn't suppose to sound like Larry Carlton! Its the backing track that is in the style of Larry Carlton!

Damnit, this is still the mother of all guitar solos. Guthrie set the gold standard there and then, a perfect piece from start to end! A great upload too, i actually prefer one of the slower versions, because they even better show the phenomenal phrasing and note choice from the master... Thank you! :-)=

Tim? There you go being modest again! YOU are every bit as good as Govan, Vai, Vaughn, Carlton, Satriani, etc. You can do it all anytime, any place, any where. If they got you on stage with ANY of them with the same equipment, you'd play at or maybe above their level. Please Tim, don't take away from who you really are. YOU SHOULD BE IN THE ALL TIME GUITAR HALL OF FAME!

Guthrie Govan is superhuman in guitar skills, and, yes, better than I am. I love his playing very much. But, as an "individual" who has a very different style, I would be taking away from my own work if I copied his work to the letter on this one. On most of his other stuff, I don't have the ability to copy him because he's so incredible at what he does. All I'm saying is that I like to borrow what I can from the other greats and put it into my own style with more concentration on art.

What software do you use to slow down the video? Can it loop segments too? I have software that can slow down music but not video, besides windows media play, which isn't good, and can't loop video segments.

How about this: Maybe there are people who are good enough to pick up some licks from other people but also creative enough to develop their own style and licks. I would never do a cover of this because it's not meant to be a cover jam. It is improvising to a Larry Carlton Style Backing Track! But, what ever floats your boat! ha ha :-)

James Rockford fun fact: Govan doesn't play bad notes, bad notes come out due to him being such a bad ass.. no really the level of chromatic control in his phrasing and being able to evenly distribute tension and release is ridiculous..
