Guthrie Govan playing to B.B. King style track | JTCGuitar.com
Download Link: JTCGuitar.com/...
Here's another solo from Guthrie's ever-popular Custom Shop series. These solos were originally made exclusively for our KZbin channel, but you loved them so much, so we've gradually been creating full download packages.
Guthrie chose some of his favourite jamtracks from our catalogue and improvised brand new solos over them. This is the BB King Smoky jamtrack from Total Blues 2, and Guthrie plays one of his most lyrical, laid-back solos ever!
As ever, we have included everything you need to practise and perfect the material in this package. There are video and audio tracks for you to watch/listen and study, accurately transcribed TAB/notation for you to analyse and master as well as backing tracks for you to practise every lick to, and jam out your own solos! We've even included some text notes to help you really get these parts down!
Download right now, or Premium Members hit the +MyTracks button and get instant streaming access!
Dive in and get some of those smooth saxophone-style licks in your playing!

Guthrie, in my mind, is the greatest guitarist alive. He's a guitar super computer. He has the skill to play anything, the phrasing and taste to play what needs to be played at the right time... he's the greatest I've ever heard.

I love how this video and the hendrix one, even 7 (almost 8!) years later, are filled with people who can't read. These are advertisements for the backing track, he's not playing in the style of B.B king -- he's playing in the style of guthrie to a B.B King backing track

Every once in a while a Monster like Guthrie comes around. All the haters, and skeptics.Shame on them, The Man did his homework, and plays ridiculously well.He is not just shred! The Man knows Tone, and has tremendous feel.Sure, maybe a handful here can mimic his style, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Guthrie is a MONSTER!!

Truthfully, this would not find much love among the blues community. But you would be correct in this. I think BB listening to Govan play one of his jazz-oriented composition, that would knock BB out of his chair. BB loved great guitar playing. But this particular cut? No. BB would say, "Be you".

@Bo Deanicus: I understand your comment about noodling on this particular track, even though Govan is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. But he has written LOTS of stuff that is extremely interesting melodically, in tempo/syncopation, and technically. Familiarize yourself with more of his work (after all, he's just extemporizing here) and I think you may raise your opinion of him. Lastly, with Govan, even the noodling is special; more like hand-made pasta from the Abruzzo region of Italy. : ^ )

@Fender52604 - Not only that, I think it's pretty safe to assume he is just given these backing tracks, and asked to record solo's over them, with no "This is a B.B. King style backing track" it's just a track. If they had been labelled as such, you can guarantee the attempt at recreating them would be spot on.

@Hardysamnin Point i'm trying to make is, i feel some people that play instruments tend be attracted to certain musicians more so on there technical talent. Having been into technical stuff in the past, i found i was blown away more by the brushes used then the painting itself. perhaps you guys like the painting more than then the brushes, which is good, but i'm sure there's many that like the brushes more than the painting, which is the wrong balance.

the secret is in how we see and face the process, and not in the process itself, I know this because I've played another instrument since I was a kid, and the process of learning was as natural as learning to walk for me, and now I can say I have great proficiency and skill at playing it, then I started to play the guitar, and as I watch ppl like Govan in youtube, I get a more conscious perspective of it, and it kind of feels like tht's my curse.. learning is unconscious.. thts it guys =)
