Congratulations Peter on hitting 30K! I have been watching you for a few years now and look forward to every new episode. I don't see the need for the gutter. It seems to me that gutter would be overwhelmed with any rain. I really appreciate the technique you share in maintaining these wooden boats. Best regards.

I’ve considered putting brow gutters back on my 1975 Ed Monk Sr Roughwater 35, as some well-intentioned soul removed them at some point in the murky past. This episode was great motivation. Talk about gutter though, your favorite way of getting bungs out: some heat and a screw…😂

Using epoxy is the reason I always have either wax paper or parchment paper in the shop. Plastic sheet works great as well- but only with epoxy. Poly will melt plastic anything

We have started our trip North to Desolation Sound and feel great. I am definitely not feeling like a gutter ball just now. Not quite a strike, but very close to it. Resting up today after some walks and engine "room" maintenance. Onward tomorrow with Gig Harbor or Eagle Harbor for a night plugged in. But as of now, day 3, still at 80% SOC on LrFePo4 battery bank and FULL on FLA house bank 2.

I was surprised when you clamped raw wood to a glue joint, just wrapping the pressure boards in plastic would make for an easy remove. I also know the strip is in no way 'structural', but I'm so used to seeing 'Ship Happens' pre-wet the scarfs with straight epoxy before applying the thickened 'glue', I wondered why you prefer not to. It's obvious these rails won't suffer any loads, but will straight thickened epoxy resist delam over time? Not criticizing your preferred method, just curious as to how the mind of an Expert Woodworking Guru works... Oh, and...Yonico 16181 Horizontal Crown Router Bit... 🤔Yay Geordie! 🐕

Rather than using packing tape to prevent epoxy sticking, you can use a zip-lock bag. This will come off really well and is re-useable.

Why O why you didn't look at the Bible of everything KZbin. And mount your trimmer/ router onto a plywood board, then you could mount to your work bench and use like a router table instead of balancing your work on edge, then you could have two hands on the work piece and also you won't cut the wrong way and ruin your work. Just an idea....
