One of my brothers met a young lad wearing a SOA cut on a 125 in a petrol garage and invited him to a club social to find out how real life is for us, and leave his cut at home. It was polite and cordial. That is how it should be. Guy in the video behind the camera was a nob. I would be more worried about the lad sparking up a ciggy next to a pump!

Hi Personally i think that pretending to be a club member is more disrespectful than some guy wearing official merchandise from a tv show who clearly doesn’t know the rules of wearing patches. I think the vast majority of the public saw SOA hoodies etc in the shops and just bought them as they would any other TV show, not saying its right from a club perspective just like I say i think its worse going round pretending to be a club member when you aren’t.

He sized up the young guy to gauge aggression and then went on to bully him. If he was an MC guy it would have been good opportunity to educate the young guy. Give respect, get respect.

The merch has nothing to do with Kurt Sutter, he just writes and directs the show, all the trademarks and copyrights for the merch and the name all belong to FOX. You're right thou, a real club member would have handled this totally different if he took offence to the physical patches being on a waistcoat, and with a lot of the guys that i've spoken to that object to this kind of merch, it's the actual physical patches that are the issue with them.

I watched that video ages ago and came to the exact same conclusions. I didn't make it through to the end because I was cringing at the pair of them. The guy doing the telling off was unsure of his ground. I reckon a simple " Make me take it off then " would have got rid of him. No-one in my club has told me what to do if I see an SOA cut yet. I 'spose I should ask and I'll just do what they tell me. I have seen one - before I started prospecting - and the guy wearing it was obviously a bit 'special' - so I just laughed. Telling him to take it off would have felt like kicking a puppy, although maybe a few words of advice wouldn't have hurt. What gets me - and it's something that someone else in the comments has pointed out too - is regalia that is designed to give the impression you are in a club, when you aren't. It might be that Lone Wolf No Club shit or some patches that by themselves mean nothing, but their placement and colour scheme is engineered to give the look of a real back patch club member. My patch is costing me a lot of commitment and effort, but those fuckers think they can spend £20 on Ebay and they'll have something similar without putting themselves out. It doesn't fool anyone who matters, but that isn't the point.

In my town we have Christian bikers and MRC riding side by side even with known official support clubs and nobody gives a hoot... It's just an asshole at a gas station trying to earn points for enforcement of a rule that he himself is probably subject to.. And it probably happened to him for actually wearing fake colors... Remember people like that project on to others there own mistakes.. He's probably trying to take the spotlight off himself I'd be interested in finding out who that prick was.. Sanction is permission from the local dominant 1%er MC club, they ensure your patch design, name etc, isn't already being used by another club in the area, it's a means to police the local clubs to make sure they don't bring trouble into the community, to keep the rogue clubs out, to sort issues between the clubs should they arise, a means for keeping the peace between the local clubs. If you don't get sanction then you don't wear a motorcycle club patch and it's enforced by all the clubs in said region.

Never saw this stupid video until today. I'm coming from a history of over 30 yrs in an MC. That loser with the camera strikes me as a 'L'il, would be bully...who MIGHT have shared a beer with a hang-around. I'd like to believe that the kid took it off BECAUSE it was daylight...and he didn't want trouble with the law for tying that dude in a pretzel. That being said...I'd like to think that my younger self would display the wisdom that I would today...but in total truth, I don't know. Depending on what kind of day I was having, or how much time I had...who knows. But the day was sunny, and unless I was hauling something, I would have been riding, and like to think he'd be smart enough to see my cut & take that prop off. But, assuming he didn't, and I wasn't... I'd have come at him as giving him a little heads up...tell him why, suggest it would look better hanging on his wall like a poster, and if not...the absolute places he wouldn't want to wear it...especially not while riding a motorcycle. I'd hope he had good judgment, and hopefully a bit more wisdom. Peace.

Love your videos, so interesting. Putting faith back into bikers. Was bullied as an apprentice by a "biker" said he had links to a Northern Irish club (that's where im from) you know the most well known one. Turns out he wasn't by the way. Im now 35 and had a complete hatred towards bikers because of this one guy. You've changed my attitude, actually to the point of doing my motorbike test. It only takes one to sour things and you mention something that happened to yourself that damaged how you perceived bikers and-or clubs in general, you touched on a very point i posted in the description of this video, this is why it should only be a club member that approaches a member of the public about this stuff, not some puffed up what-every-he-is-was. You actually do have some really amazing clubs over there both in the North and South, i have a few on my friends list from north and south of the border, get a bike and test done and get out there and meet them, they put on plenty of public events between them. To the people commenting saying “I’ll wear what I want...” and “doesn’t give them a right...” all I’ll say is that the video is about people wearing unsanctioned/tv show patches so it would insinuate that whoever is wearing these cut offs/patches are pretending to be a part of a Motorcycle Club so therefore they are identifying themselves with the Motorcycle Club Community by doing so. Say a former member of a club (that still love the culture and acts like an oldschool biker - just doing the lone wolf thing) sees it and he is bigger/more skillfull. If he identifies as a former member of an MC in the area, then i'd suggest what he advises will be correct and should be followed up on. I've been in the position of former and i'd advise someone wearing the official merch the same way as if i was still in the patch, if it's official merch then i'd take some time out for a friendly chat as i said in my video. Each will approach this situation in their own way, some wont even say a word if it's official merch without the MC and bottom rocker, others may ask that you to cover it or take it off, then there are those that will just take it, but no-one who isn't a patch holder or held a set of patches should be advising people about this stuff and least of all make people remove them with intimidation as he did. His actions at that pump could quite easily blow-back on the clubs in that area, this incident made it into a British tabloid newspaper, doesn't look good for the local MC's if people think this bloke was one of theirs. As an MC member I take an outlook like this. first let me start off saying I agree with Dibber. there are guys in the MC world that have a way of looking at things and at times its smart to just put the cut in the cage. Now me as an MC member in the U.S. I will stand my ground and do what I have to do to protect me my brothers and my cut. robert23456789 well, motorcycle clubs are not "biker gangs", what I would define as a "biker gang" is something completely different. Clubs aren't gangs. As for your point, there is not a club called Sons of Anarchy, and there never will be either for a multitude of reasons. However, when people wear cuts with a three-piece patch set (top rocker, bottom rocker, centre patch), clubs will take issue because of the work, dedication and sacrifice it takes to earn a real patch set. And it's even worse and more insulting when people start putting on the MC cube, 1% patch, or anything with a real club's name on it. Also when it comes to the official merchandise, some patch holders will still take offence, but it all depends on the club/member who comes across the person wearing the cut

Spot on as usual Dibz. I think what is overlooked is the consequences of this scenario. On another day, the young SOA fan may well have been confronted by a genuine club member and not that cockwomble in the video. The harsh reality is the boy would've had a very quick choice to make. Remove it or have it removed for you along with the mandatory forecourt shoeing. Fact. All the pretend hard men commenting that they would never allow anybody to tell them what to wear, would simply crumble under the pressure. If they didn't, they would get flat out burst. Fact. Wrong, there are also 1% MC's that wear a single and 2 piece patch, Vagos for instance fly a 2 piece and are 1% club, Sons of Silence wear a 2 piece and are also 1% MC, also the Pagans MC, none of those notorious 1% MCs wear a 3 piece back patch set. If you earned those military patches then you have every right to wear them and no motorcycle club member would make a deal about them either. Military and motorcycle clubs walk hand in hand, their histories are intrinsically linked. I own a genuine S.O.A vest from the props department, I choose not to wear it simply because it’s genuine and not merchandise. As a joke I might wear it one day when I’m riding my Grom for a giggle, but I’m also female and know certain clubs well and even worked as a mechanic for one. Our clubs down here don’t care what cut you wear as long as your respectful, guess it just depends on where in the world you live.

Whatever you might think, someone wearing a patch from a motorcycle club does NOT give anyone authority in wider society. A person behaving like this is being a dick whether they are in a club or not. The fact that someone might have a propensity to violence is another matter. And as we know, these people exist in and out of motorcycle clubs. I don't give someone extra respect because they are a member of a tiddlywinks club either. Human beings deserve a basic level of respect regardless.

Many thanks for your comment but people also must take into consideration that not all clubs agreed to this merch being made and sold to the public and there are also clubs out there that are MC, that don't fly a bottom rocker or an MC cube, this is why i always mention that fact in my videos. H&R

Yup, they 100% sold these vests on the FX SoA shop when they started making merch, they may have dropped it due to backlash about them, who knows - but i lay money they sold thousands of them before they were pulled from the FX on-line SoA shop.

I personally wear a tshirt that just says SAMCRO on the front, I don’t think any club member would have a problem with that as I’m not pretending I’m in a club. I like the TV show but that’s what it is a tv show, it’s not real life & I think some people find it hard to separate them

I had a similar incident that was alot friendlier with a real club member, recently got a club set up, we went through the proper routes though because we are new we haven't been recognised by most yet,I was wearing my cut in town, just about to start my bike up and go home when this bouncer comes up to me and asks who we were sanctioned by, I told him, he explained who he was with,we said good evening to each other and that was it, no dramatic tripe like this nob sprawls to that lad, I expect it but all the encounters i've had with other members have been friendly and quick so far, enjoy Malta Fella H&R.

That can happen from time to time until you get known by everyone, one bit of advise, you're local club events are one of the absolute best ways of getting to know members of the other clubs in your area, you should always make a point of supporting your local clubs and their events, you ca never have too many contacts. Glad to hear you went about things the right way, that's what i like to hear. H&R

Those before us created this counter culture of OURS, my generation built it into what it is today and we school those wanting to join our ranks of how things are done in our world and they will continue to protect this thing of ours long after we're gone, it belongs to us regardless of what anyone thinks or says and we WILL fight and defend that what is OURS that WE created and the integrity of what it means to earn and wear the patches and designs WE created. Even Sutter himself had to get permission from the big MC's to use the 3 patch design on the show and they also had to employ real MC 1%ers to be able to do it. We have rules that were created for a multitude of good reasons, the main one is to try and keep the peace - and out keep those rogur clubs that may threaten the peace and already existing balance. The already existing motorcycle club community is our creation and if anyone wants to become part of our community then they do so by our rules, the same as they'd have to do if they joined any other group or community.

Just imagine if we all got along. And I mean everyone. The 81, bandido, outlaws, blue Angel's, all the main "rival" MCs actually getting together for a pint or 20😉 and making a rally out of it.... I really dont think there would be a spot big enough for everyone and the amount of bikes that would be there. Easy way to avoid this . Not in a club or in very solid with club members ? Dont wear support gear. Don't know anyone in any club but want to feel "cool" or whatever ? Dont buy fake stuff like SOA cuts and wear it around , just by a shirt/sweater/ ball cap instead . Don't put on a cut unless your legitimate in a club and know what the deal is..its a respect issue amongst men so show respect and recieve it, or dont and you will not be shown it. ML&R.

I was in Mexico and ended up in a Biker bar the bikes were amazing started chatting about MC clubs they realized i knew my shit there was a prospect wearing a patched waist coat and i completemented it i sais i know this is a silly ? But could i try it on i knew i was stupid and said this but he let me try it on :-) i had it on for about 30 secs said it was really nice and put it back on him and got invited back to a party so it turns out he lives in the same building as us so im buying him a bottle of spirits.

Personally SOA merch fine at home, treat it like a TV show. Think others have to understand that if you're in a legitimate MC, anyone walking around in SOA gear, looks like it's taking the piss.

Fantastic video Dibber! Liked the way you answered the whole shebang by answering it in 4 main bites! I was at Download festival a number of years ago, I saw Ozzy playing with Zack wylde. I saw the back of his leather jacket. had BLS with Birmingham England as top & bottom rockers respectively. I assumed at the time, that he had some sort of sanction to manufacture/wear & display it. This was ages before BLS got hit with fake gear suits. A friend of mine who was involved in MC biking. told me previously that there were stores in London which had racks of offensive gear removed from the shelves as it infringed their intellectual property. I imagine Mr. Wilde was very quickly educated, and now no longer wears anything so plagairised or derivative? I like the way you say that education is important. people should take a pride in making something of themselves. Keep up the great videos.

BLS patch being worn on the streets has been outlawed in the UK since 2005 as his patch design infringes on an old MC's trademark. It's not the first time he's been hit for infringement of trademark, he was sued by the owners of Johnnie Walker Whiskey when he ripped off their bottle shape and label design for his probably ripped off what ever it was that he was selling, the man couldn't create an original idea if his life depended on it. Zakk has already been told, in Manchester, England, back in 2005. A very well known and established MC showed up to their venue and started yanking those patches, the whole show was cancelled and a notice put out by the band's management not to wear those stupid patches on the streets of the UK or face conflict with the MC's. BLS patches are on a nationwide take-down notice and have been since 2005, BLS have requested multiple times for the take down notice to be removed, to this day the take down notice still stands and will continue to do so as their patch also violates the trademark of an old British MC that predates Black Label Society.
