It's kind of like when you fall out with a friend and they're still stalking your social years later (happened to a friend), and so you're like "damn, you're weird but I guess I'm flattered that someone's still this obsessed with me?", so again, not flattered like when you get a compliment, but rather finding it odd and funny.

Yeah. I know this myself. Someone I was close friends with and had a short romantic relationship with held an obvious grudge against me for months after we dropped contact with each other (still had some contact via shared friend group.) He sincerely believed that me breaking up with him was the catalyst for his mental health issues worsening. It's a very conflicting set of feelings knowing that you live rent free in someone else's head. On the one hand they clearly care for you a lot in some form but obviously it isn't healthy and they don't respect you.

I got told I had cancer over the phone. Told my mom to come over early and I wouldn't tell her why I was upset over the phone because that's just wrong. She was heart broken because I was 23 and she was 35 when she was diagnosed. This was 2020 so of course things took place over the phone a lot. I went same day to see my dad and siblings and tell them as well. They joked, thought I was pregnant. Said no, to sit because it was more serious. They told me to say I was kidding and that I was pregnant because that would make more sense. That was the only time I ever cried about it. I've been numb to it since. Even when they told me it spread and I needed another surgery. Or when they discovered that second surgery caused permanent nerve damage and damage to my arm.

Then now that you have unlocked some precious childhood memory of this person and are wondering how they are doing she tells you they are dead. She does this all the time. She once made my mom remember a guy that gave her a penny at church like 40 years ago when she was a kid just to tell her he died.

Daniel.. your sister is like 9% correct. There is a tube going from your throat to your ears. You can not breathe through it, but she is onto something. If it was any bigger maybe she could. I learned about this tube the hard way - choking on water and finding it leaking out of my ear.

This is how the "pinch your nose, close your mouth, and push a breath out to pop your ears," trick is able to work. Great for swimmers 👍
@TheHignoriaАй бұрын
@betheguy_posts that's also how you get an aneurism. I can pop them open without and use of nose pinching or force, I just move that little bone or muscle or whatever it is in the inner ear by opening your jaw a little and channel the pressure to bypass your mouth. Clicks right open every time.
@sambradley9091Ай бұрын
@@TheHignoriapersonally swallowing works for me. also it's kinda weird to leak water out of your ears considering the reason that you can't breath through your ears is because it's sealed off by the ear drum. people actually have managed to breath through their ears by puncturing a hole in their eardrum. I would get your ears checked in case to make sure that's all good and sealed and not damaged
@catpoke955719 күн бұрын
You can't breathe through it because it leads into your middle ear, which is closed off and therefore can't access air. You CAN actually PUSH air into and out of it, though. If someone formed a sac in their ear they could gain an adaptation where they keep excess air in their ear to breathe through later, or if a hole tunneled from their middle ear to their outer ear they might even be able to breathe from it.

Hey Daniel (and anyone reading), preemptive consolation for losing your fur babies even though they are still alive and well: I lost my cat to a tumor a little over a year and a half ago and in the months leading up when he was getting sick I really couldn't picture living without him. After we put him down I cried for two days straight (which I allowed myself to do freely) until the 3rd day when I physically couldn't cry anymore. I loved him so much and I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to move on. Fast forward to the present... I'm still here. Every few months I'll cry over him again, but I'm doing much better now than in those early days. So yeah, when things like that happen, cry it out. Be sad. But also realize that your life isn't over. You will get better... not fixed, but better.
@sambradley9091Ай бұрын
I lost my cat over a year ago. it was really hard because I didn't even see it coming, no health issues, though she was old, and she just... passed. I was with her one moment, and she left the room for about 20 minutes. I went over to see her laying by the door and went to pet her and she was cold, still, her mouth foaming. and I just lost it and went hysterical. it's over a year later and we have two new cats, not as a replacement because we could never replace her, but because cats help you by being bundles of joy and light up the house and I couldn't imagine living without them. it gets better

I think the wedding/weight thing can come from early 2000's reality shows. Like so many shows had a bride not wanting family or friends to ruin a wedding with their weight gain, hair, tattoos, pregnancy's, cancer and all kinds of pointless stuff. So we can get it in our heads that that is how it works in the real world. Just my thoughts of course because I never personally thought about it until seeing older shows or reddit stories.

19:39 Holy crap I have a pretty crazy text story I'd like to share that sorta relates to this post. A friend of mine from high school (I haven't seen her since I graduated) texted me out of the blue asking why I stopped talking to her in the second half of our sophomore year of high school. I was confused, cause we did talk after that, just less frequently and it weirded me out how specific the time she mentioned was. Her messages after that came across as weirdly clingy (not the first time either) so I sorta tiptoed around it a bit while trying my best to answer despite having no clue what she was talking about. The last text she sent me was something like "I was just thinking about it a little recently. I was a bit hurt." About a month later or something she then follows that text up with "A lot." Unfortunately, she also sent that text at the exact moment my dog died. I assumed she was continuing off her last message and naturally didn't respond cause it creeped me out a little and I was grieving. After a few minutes she frantically said she sent it on accident (Not that she meant to send it to someone else, just that she didn't mean to send it). Not sure how I feel about it, but I now have a somewhat creepy text message from her with the exact date and time that my dog passed away.

Wait, there's a KZbinr who (I assume) gets paid to deliver bad news? That's thing you can do? In high school people would ask me reject or even break-up with somebody if they didn't wanna do it themselves. (I was basically the lo-tech, human equivalent of dumping someone over text). And at every job I've ever had I've been tasked with things like: 1.) telling a customer that they can't have a refund and that they need to leave now. 2.) telling our boss that they've made a toxic work environment and we aren't really enough to tolerate so we might mutiny. And 3.) telling doctors that they were wrong about something. All difficult and dangerous things. Also, almost all of my pre-med professors told me that I should specialize in giving "end of life care" as I'd be really good at it. (I choose to not do that.) This whole time, I could've been making bank with whatever dumbass power I have that lets me deliver bad news and have people just accept (fairly gracefully)?!?!

As someone who uses delivery apps, I have a ton of unread text messages. Like I saw it when it popped up saying the order was ready, or on its way, or whatever, don't need to go look at it.
