Of course at that speed there's no downforce for the car.
@lumntoob999
@lumntoob999 5 жыл бұрын
Although grip does matter there's more to this specific test exactly how it was setup than just outright grip. The car being so much longer and wider was the biggest disadvantage it had here. I think most people are aware at this point that an F1 car has the most outright grip and overall speed by a large margin over a moto gp bike, or anything else on a racetrack for that matter.
@EricvZ1967
@EricvZ1967 5 жыл бұрын
@@lumntoob999 That's the additional explanation.. :)
@lumntoob999
@lumntoob999 5 жыл бұрын
@@EricvZ1967 not sure what you mean by the additional explanation. A car like an F1 car with 4 huge slicks and the sheer amount of technical suspension just has much more mechanical grip then a bike which only has two tiny contact patches and minimal suspension. If you discount downforce altogether a car like this would still have more cornering grip then a bike. I'm not saying your incorrect in that downforce increases with speed. Downforce in addition to the mechanical grip is why an F1 car would be potentially tens of seconds quicker around a lap then a gp bike, depending on the circuit of course. This "test" was really just a fun thing between friends that guy put together to win at least on area against the F1 car, it's irrelevant when looking at the on track performance between them.
@gregmtech
@gregmtech 5 жыл бұрын
its just not a question of downforce ; but a question of space; the car is 4m long; the bike 1M50. if the cones are at 6m apart ;the car has to struggle where as is you scaled the course for the bike to be like it is for the car then the results would be different ( and very interesting too ) They are having fun ; just have fun with them ; its awesome ;)
@TrungLe-dv9nd
@TrungLe-dv9nd 5 жыл бұрын
The F1 is too torquey, the tires can’t really grip in at that speed. The back of the car was all over the place as you can see. The wheels are spinning way too much. There are many disadvantages that an F1 has over the motorbike

F1 cars rely on down-force for most of their traction. As speed increases so does their traction. Doing a very slow slalom test is totally outside of what a normal F1 car would do and definitely doesn't highlight it's abilities. It's also tough for the driver because of the steering input, they aren't meant to turn that tightly at slow speeds. That test was run at basically the slowest speed the F1 car can drive at. Even something like 100km/h would be better, however that is still very slow, maybe 200km/h with wider gaps between the cones of course :). Interesting video none the less!

Guy made it look like a walk in the park. To be fair David did awesome too though the test was skewed in favor of the bike.

Footpegs are never used to steer a bike. Look up counter-steering please. This is how the bike is turned so quickly at speed.

If Guy's moving the bike merely through the use of his foot pegs, I'd be mightily surprised. Counter-steering seems, to put it mildly, much more likely (and efficient), which would be through the handlebars.

Why would you not show an aerial shot of the F1 car doing it but then do a bunch of other random aerial shots?????

He said in the video that the car had a fresh set for the start of the event, stating it had more grip than expected. Looks like we were viewing B-roll from his warm-up at 1:39. In the wet, gross.

the cones should be 2 meters offset to simulate passing actual large obstacles. The bike would not be that nimble then.

this is because the grip of an F1 car is based on downforce which is nonexistent at those speeds. if you would have put em a lot further away and then did a slalom test, then the F1 car would win for sure since it corners fast at high speeds.
