Riverford founder & farmer, Guy Singh-Watson, explains how rather than using a barrage of chemical sprays, we encourage and sometimes release the native ladybirds, lacewings and wasps that predate pests.
Over 320 pesticides can be routinely used in non-organic farming. Some remain in the food we eat, despite washing and cooking. We've been growing organic veg since 1987 and know there's a better way - nature already provides the solution.
Choose organic to avoid pesticides, support wildlife and enjoy natural food. Because it’s grown naturally, we think it tastes better too.

I love this guy, he speaks the truth, and has historical knowledge as well. He's the real direction that our world should go into, not a poison chemical induced society.

Very well said Guy - we totally agree at Shillingford Organics that investing in knowledge is crucial and there really should be more agricultural and horticultural colleges, and definitely natural sciences that are not funded by agri-chemical companies. There has to be a paradigm shift and knowledge transference will definitely help people to better understand the importance of building a food future fit for our children and the planet.

Thank you so much, Guy. As a Floridian, those of us with small gardens and green houses have always appreciated the knowledge passed down from larger farmers and your commentary over the years. I’ve often wondered about your use of beneficial insects and how they are employed on a larger scale farm? Keep up the great work!

So much common sense from Guy in this video. So glad that Riverford is there and that we are able buy the high quality, fabulous tasting and safe food that they produce.

This is an excellent video. Many, many, many people need to educate themselves into what and how our food is produced and the influence big agriculture has on our environment, health, eco-systems and just putting our health, the planetary health at jeopardy for profit.

I wish I could work on your farm. Listened to a podcast this morning on Radio 4 about the dangers of pesticides. It was beyond shaocking farmers died as a result.

Always buy organic to keep my family as healthy as possible, from the inside out. I wouldn’t trust the big nobs not to poison us with anything. If you know you know.

Absolutely right and what is more very few who buy at supermarkets realise the massive power and influence of the GM 'aggrochem' producers of the Monsanto/ Bayer ilk, pity the completely self obsessed media does not focus on this more.

Should cut the media more slack. Don't judge them, lest by the same measure you be judged.

All matter is chemicals. Synthetic or not has nothing to do with safety. Everything is toxic and not toxic, depending on dose. There shouldn't be two kinds of farming. Organic and conventional agriculture are equally safe and healthy. The difference is that organic excludes use of inputs not based on health or safety but on arbitrary regulations. Conventional agriculture has the use of all inputs used in organic agriculture as well as inputs organic bans. Conventional agriculture has the better toolbox.
