This is my favorite Idol moment ever - for so many reasons. Guy showed the world what he is made off. I cant imagine any other performer taking a such a tame song and making it his own. This guy brought Australia to its knees crying, because the song became HIS journey - He is the dude that climbed every mountain, he put up with people mocking his virginity and his religion and sent those accusations back to the pit where it came from. Total inspiration.

I was struggling to find work and my ex husband was on extra long hours at work and trips to the supermarket and meeting other women. I sat watching this, with tears my eyes, and goosebumps and hope in my heart that things were going to get better! His winning song was angels brought me here! Such a spiritual experience! Watching Guys journey through Australian Idol gave me something to focus on when my daughter was being treated for cancer she was just 2 at the time. I followed Guy from his audition and remember being in the hospital next to my daughters bed on grand final night. I was watching it on the TV above my daughters bed the place was absolutely silent. And I had to restrain myself from yelling yes!!! When he won. It was a very happy moment. It really helped me cope. My daughter is still in remission!

This for me is the single most amazing and moving musical performance I have had the privilege to hear in my entire lifetime, which is reasonably long so far! I was watching on the very night Guy sang this and as much as I thought he was fantastic up until then, the first few bars of this drove those sentiments home to me. If you don't believe in God, and I'm still not sure, but I tell you what, it's hard to argue against after hearing Guy sing! (oh yeah, and seeing your children born!)

That voice! Oh yes "TOUCHDOWN"!! This was the very first series in Aus and the contestants had no idea what to expect. It was the most real and honest from the artists and judges and audiences because they were writing the book for future reality TV singing shows in Australia. The "hype" on this clip wasn't hype - the judges and audience were genuinely blown out of the water by this performance. I remember watching & crying myself - still draws me in everytime I watch this performance.

You never quite know when that stunning moment might happen again, and they do happen so often. That's the xfactor alright, the 'something extra' that just happens, on and above the talent.

Mate, that cd of 'old rnb covers' was Guy reinventing soul, from Memphis. He so impressed soul legends over there, by bringing the songs out fresh, like this one, that they were phoning up to drag people in to listen while he recorded them live, 1 take! None of these electronic 'we'll just work over that song another 5 or 6 times' ! The album went 2P in 10 weeks! The best 'sound' I've heard in a long, long time! Memphis, & soul legends everywhere, are saying Guy is 'the MAN!'

I remember the first time I saw this performance. And the reaction is still the same: full body goosebumps. This is truly a 'moment'. Although I think 'When The War Is Over' is THE best Idol performance I've seen (I've seen plenty of them!!) this is right up there with it! Amazing job! I remember that night.Guy always worked hard, some nights not getting enuf sleep (there's a vid here showing them lvng for the studio and Guys the only one packing all sorts of stuff, the rest just wandered off.) His mom finally back from India, and she was so overcome she started crying & that, together with his own passion, started him off. I have a vid where in a Soul Lounge with just Carl on guitar, he just sang this & it was AWESOME! Wish it was on youtube.The huge concert 1's gone.

2003 winner, 1st one in Australia. He is just finishing his huge tour with music legends and will be coming to US and UK (possibly elsewhere) His song submitted to WYD08 "Receive the Power" was chosen for the theme song,& recent reviews of concert stated sensational voice, incredible stage presence, genuinely rare talent, astonishing, charismatic singer who knows his place in a song.
