Guy wrote Choir for a band member who took his own life. He wrote Standing With you for a family member battling mental health problems. Guy is truly a great story teller.

I can't help being teary whenever I watch Guy's surprise to the school choir! It also touches me when I see some of the little girls being teary when Guy sang Standing With You. Thank you for reacting to this video.

Guy won the Australian Idol in 2003. He has so many hits here. He has been a judge on The Voice. I saw him in an Australia Day eve concert in Canberra, the capital city of Australia, many years ago. He is WONDERFUL live as well....

Of this song's message, Sebastian reveals, "It's about the power of just being there. Sometimes - as a friend or as a support to people who go through things - it's not about having the right anecdotes or answers; it's really more about just being that silent presence. Peace out.

Guy has been performing for 21 years. He rose to fame for winning the Australian Idol in 2003. He has been a judge on X Factor and The Voice. He can play multiple instruments and has a great voice. PS I have always cried at everything. My Dad wanted to stop me watching Lassie when I was about 5 or 6 because I would cry every time.

Thanks for reacting to guy. He’s one of my all time favourite artists. Such a nice human being,& An artist with an amazing voice to boot. This song was written about a cousin of his going through a tough time. He has another song called “Choir” which was written for his close friend and music collaborater, that lost his life to mental health. I think people get the 2 mixed up.

I've had a rough time of it lately, struggling with despair due to family conflict. Often I find myself out in the garden with the refrain of Standing With You playing on a loop in my head, reminding me that I'm not alone. Guy's lyrics often touch on such themes, but in a gentle, hopeful way that lifts you up rather than weigh you down. The children's reaction is interesting because they're clearly affected despite their age; they will all be familiar with sadness, and I think their takeaway is that someone is there for them when they feel sad and lonely. So wholesome. The song Choir that the choir is learning also deals with the subject and is about reuniting some day with someone who has "un-alived" themselves and singing with the heavenly choir, but it's a joyous take on a sad subject.

Sending you much love Mike....You would have seen the worst of humanity at times in your job. So you've protected yourself by shutting off any emotional response, which of course was necessary...so be prepared for Guy to open those locks as he writes some awesome songs ....Loved your reaction....'Choir' was written for his band member & friend who did take his own life....that last song Standing With You was for his cousin who was thinking about 'The world would be a better place' without him...When Guy heard he was struggling he was there for him...and thankfully he's ok now... but the message from both these songs I feel gives hope and understanding to those who struggle....whew!

Me again. You won't remember my initial reaction to your reaction of course. But this song (thankfully ) became my inner voice through a very tough time. The troubles aren't resolved - you're a father and I suspect you're like most parents: we are only as happy as our saddest child. I watched this video again (in tears, it goes without saying), just focusing on your face as you watched. You may not be blubbering and crying, but hiding behind your hat speaks volumes. You reveal much more than you think. I don't think I'll ever hear this song without tears - of grief, of trying to understand, of helplessness, of reaching out, of being there.
