In fact, Itachi and Kisame are very similar. They both killed their comrades on the orders of the village, and both for the good of the village, because they believed that this was all for the greater good. Itachi just looks better in our eyes as we are more immersed in his and Sasuke's story and what they went through. Itachi always had Sasuke to pin his hopes on, but Kisame was left with nothing but lies when even the head of his village turned out to be just Madara's puppet. And Kisame decided to believe in this world without lies and darkness, which Madara offered him, in the world of dreams, where he would be free from the horror through which he passed all his life in his village, finally losing himself, as Itachi said. The only noticeable difference between Itachi and Kisame is that Kisame tries to hide the pain from everything that he has to do, or even pretends that he likes to kill his comrades and people in general, he even when meeting with Itachi behaves for show. But from his flashback and what he said to Madara, we know that he is actually suffering from everything he had to do, no less than Itachi is from what he did. At least Itachi had Sasuke, so I'm glad that Kisame had a similar death at the end, allowing him to partially atone for his sins and forgive himself for everything he did earlier in the last moments of his life. It's also nice to see that Itachi was really able to become a true friend for Kisame, because Kisame remembered his words and Itachi's death in the last moments of his life. After all, they had been through similar experiences and were both alone in this life, bearing the burden of responsibility for the people they had killed. When Itachi fought Sasuke, Kisame protected them from interference, was later not surprised by Itachi's death (most likely Itachi told him that this was his last fight), and was even going to leave the Akatsuki after his death, if Madara did not appear before him again. So you can see that Itachi was really important to Kisame. Best death for Kisame, poetic and fair. He sacrificed himself in order not to give out information to the enemies, thereby confirming, first of all, to himself that he was not a hypocrite and acted with himself in the same way as he did with his comrades in a similar situation. And also how Kisame remembered Itachi's words at the first meeting and was able to feel relief and receive some kind of redemption, sacrificing himself and realizing that he had not betrayed the memory of all those comrades that he had killed earlier, as he would have done if he had now surrendered to his enemies so that avoid death. A brilliant episode.

If you remember each Akatsuki member had an individual goal for joining the organization, Kisame's was to find a world of truth after "being trapped in a false existence". He was forced to kill his "comrades" due to his loyalty to the mission over his comrades, which in turn was because of his loyalty to his Master who assigned him the mission. It turned out his master was a traitor to the village who had leaked intel to enemies, so he killed him. Kisame decided to follow Madara and joined the Akatsuki because he believed in his Project Tsukuyomi, so that he could see the fruition of a dream world without lies.

They can be put in genjutsu. Practically, the tailed beast would break you out of a genjutsu by disturbing your chakra. It doesn’t help if you both are under a genjutsu. And there are other examples. Spoilers ------------- Like when the Infinite Tsukoyomi got Bee, and Sasuke mentions it would get Naruto and all the tailed beasts in him at once, if his PS wasn’t shielding them. All Obito would have to do would be to put Yagura and Isobu under a genjutsu before one could break the other on out. Sasuke has no idea about that, so he thought getting just Bee was enough. He just awakened his Mangekyou, is still inexperienced, and has no idea about that trick until then. C’mon, you guys could really put this stuff together instead of just nitpicking. Though I do agree the show has its problems, it’s not that bad lol.
