Guy Wire Install Update

Once I had the electric service entrance, utility pole, meter socket inspection passed the power company came to hook up new wires and install a new meter. But first they told me I our utility pole required a guy wire so that their wires wouldn't pull it over. So that is what I installed today! Another two week delay as I had to wait for the kit to be delivered and an Excavator to dig a trench so I could install the "Bust Anchor".
Fingers crossed we will have live power by early next week so I can make much more progress.

Some states use porcelain guy wires while Alabama don't use them any more

Does a guy wire carry any electricity? Are they safe to touch/bump into? I ask because of the plastic covering.

Hahaha no power. The plastic is because that cable can cut you also to protect

The electric company put one of these in my yard and I really want to cut it out. I would have cut it out already but I was afraid Id get shocked

you shouldn't get shocked, but you will be sent a bill for damaging their equipment. They should have an easement which allows them to install that wire. If you don't like it, you should confirm the easement or you can pay them a lot of money to re-engineer the pole.
