I'm grateful for the opportunity to not only serve the public, but to be interviewed by Bill Ritter. I grew up watching him! Needless to say I was nervous. Heart racing, sweating a bit, telling myself to relax. All that! I'm sure many people who have sung with me have felt similarly. It's just our body's response to new and/or uncomfortable situations. I mention in this interview that there was a time in my youth that i also had social anxiety. So I'd experience these panicky feelings when talking to almost anyone outside my own family. But the desire to perform in public was so strong, that I just kept forcing myself to be around people regardless of the extreme discomfort. These days, I don't have social anxiety anymore, and I can't explain why it went away. I also know that there are so many people still dealing with this, and may continue to deal with this for a long time. I can only hope they find ways to deal with it the best they can. Since I understand to some degree what it's like to be anxious, I just try my best to make everyone singing with me as comfortable as possible. Sometimes that means just reminding them they are doing a great job. Sometimes that means turning off the cameras if they ask me to. So if you come and sing with me, I hope I can make you feel comfortable getting your song out! Share this video and let's keep making the world smile, one song at a time.
