Back in the days in Guyana this was a good afternoon snack in most Guyanese household
Ingredients
4 Cups sifted all purpose flour
4 Eggs
2 Stick butter
4 Tsp baking powder
1 1/2 Cups white sugar
1/2 Tsp nutmeg
1 Tbs custard powder
2 Tbs Ice cold water
2 Tsp Vanilla essence
Bake at 350 F for 40-45 minutes
Pineapple jam for pine slice filling
• Pineapple 🍍 Jam

Hi Ash ! I did make the pine slice this evening comes out perfectly good without the eggs I added less sugar and half can of condensed milk 😊 Thank you 😊❤️

@@cookingwithash thanks for the reply. Hope you're all safe..I take it you're in USA. I need the equivalent in grams for your butter. In UK there are no sticks of butter, thanks so much if I can be provided with this information.

@@cookingwithash you're amazing..your recipes are mouth watering. I haven't had decent Guyanese food since 2005. I'm not a great cook and never learnt as my aunts did the cooking . I will never be able to cook well but these recipes you've done made it look simple. I certainly wish you were my neighbour,🤭🌺❣️ I would be well fed..I've been looking for someone to supply me with food because I work full time and single so not much family to share with but you're far away. ❤️🌺 Please keep it up. You're real and use basic ingredients . I will try and grow a wiri wiri tree in UK. This is not available neither is casreep.

I finally made this, and I loveeeeeee all your delicious recipes… but this one kicked my butt 🤣 Did exactly as you noted, like I usually do for all your awesome recipes I’ve tried. However, after 40 mins of baking I tested with a toothpick and it seemed baked. Once cooled and I cut into it, it was raw near the jam area. 🤦‍♀️. I baked the two half for an additional 20 mins, it still looks a little gooey near the jam, except now it crumbs/falls apart once cutting 🥲. It tasted great! Just wished the recipe resulted in the right texture as well

@@robertasoo8930 thanks you for your honest feedback as I really appreciate it , so two things I can think of 1 the jam had too much liquid in it and wasn’t dry down good enough so that’s why u we’re having that issue with the center not cooking fully 2 what size of pan did you used ?? Bec if the thickness is not equal this will result in uneven baking , also everyone over bake differently so maybe that played a factor in this , I will be updating the recipe soon as I experiment on different ways to get the perfect 👍 results don’t be discouraged give it a try again 😘
