Wild. But not native. The locals ruined that long ago.

We would like to hear your theory about your comment! How have the locals ruined the native trout populations? Very interesting!

@guyjeans8 Non-native trout were stocked in the Kern River system in the 1900s to improve fishing and boost the local economy, but this led to the loss of the integrity of the Kern River rainbow trout subspecies. The stocking of non-native trout has since been discontinued, but the effects of the stocking continue to be felt. This was "long ago." They finally stopped in 1990 and started planting sterile fish.
