Really nice to see a brand that offers the same features on their carbon and alloy frames.

11:20 take note of the external width of the wheel at 38mm. These are "proper" sidewall thickness and there is still a beadlock channel for the tire too. I realize most manufacturers are not using beadlock. But, this application alongside Stan's and Ibis appears to be a solid "tire clamper."

Guy, really appreciate what you do and enjoy your videos. Im 169cm and curreny riding a 2019 Kona Process 153 27.5 Medium with a 450mm Reach and 600mm Top Tube and 35mm stem. This fits me perfectly. Looking at the Trek I can either keep the same reach and go for the Medium (R 453 TT 584) or keep the same Top Tube on the MediumLarge (R473 TT607). Any thoughts on the new geometry principles. Should steeper seat tubes mean more cramped / upright seated position or should they mean a more forward standing position.

Trek should have improved Remedy. Components and price still need to improve compare to other big brands. Trek is good in marketing but Riders are wiser nowadays. Good luck!
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
Good summary! This is now basically a Remedy category bike with 29in wheels. Value gets better on cheaper bikes I think but it’ll be interesting to see how they sell.

@@smtex9902 the new 2023 fuels have longer reach than previous, Im 178cm and the large is perfect, most comfortable bike I’ve owned. I recently purchased a large roscoe and had to add a longer stem to get to the same reach as the fuel so I’m clearly a large despite what treks previous sizing suggest.

Guy, a quick question about seat tube angle and seating position. I remember years ago when every bike had a 73°seat tube you could roughly set your seating position by dropping a string line through the pedal axle from under your knee when placed in the horizontal forward position. I'm hearing that some people still try this on the new modern, steeper seat tube Mtb's and it seems wrong. Any thoughts. Great review🎊

@TheJjyoung3332 жыл бұрын
@@vwr32jeep If you look at this model and comparable models, they are playing catch up. They are expensive and less travel. One would think with high market share mass market brand, they would be cheaper.
@vwr32jeep2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJjyoung333 They aren’t as expensive as the Stumpjumper tho. Trek could definitely add the same higher end components as Specialized, but I think they’ve struck a balance that has earned them the lions share of the market. No?
@vwr32jeep2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJjyoung333 And because of that market share, they have a lot more money to devote to research and development. But it’s a bit like Apple… they don’t play all their cards until they have to. That’s the frustrating part of business. It’s not really “catching up”, it’s just time to float the next upgrade. And this one will likely get me into the store. I’d be quite happy with a Stumpjumper, it’s arguably a “better” bike even if that measure is razor thin at this point. But there’s a Trek store at the end of my street, and another 6 miles away.. etc.. Convenience and availability plays a big part in it too.

Technically its exactly between an XC and an Enduro. XC is 120/120 or 120/130 while an Enduro is 160/170. This bike is 140/150. Exactly what you want in an all mountain trail bike that can go up and down good.

What the hell are they still putting a 30T chainring on the bikes for? 34T minimum please. It costs $200 to get a new ring and chain these days
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree from a personal point of view Kazak, but both bikes are getting heavier and so are the riders. They don't seem to be getting fitter or stronger though so even when the 10-52T block arrived very few brands upsized their rings.
@soliranje2 жыл бұрын
Well, there is a lot of riders who ride long distances with really long steep climbs where 34T chainring is a little big. For us who do 80-130km per day on our trail bikes, 30T is great, especially when 25-30km uphill is in front of you.
