JM is a great player of our generation. And I’m glad he brought guitar and solos to the mainstream but they’re are a ton of greats you’re overlooking. Prince was a great guitarist. That’s why David Ryan Harris starts off with The Beautiful Ones before Slow Dancing. John knows there are many greats. Research. Lots of great players out there. You just don’t know them or they just didn’t hit as big because they stuck with modern blues. Not pop.

Man! That Strat tone is out of this world! There is no other guitar that sounds like a Strat no matter how hard they try to copy it in my humble opinion. Hoping one day he breaks from PRS and just plays the hundreds of Fenders he owns. Many hundreds. He’s still buying them. The PRS guitars are given to him. It’s a business deal imo. Up close and everything. Had my hands on his SRV strat. Nobody was watching his gear and I saw his little pedalboard. It was great. But he played mostly his stuff that I’m not into. I’m more into his electric blues/rock etc. still an experience. And the people at the store said stay and get an autograph which I’m not into. I thought ok I’ll get my guitar signed. Which is long gone. We waited hrs. Just as we get close to getting near him. They say sorry John has to leave. So here’s how I felt. 🤦♂️

@@ronaldmckee7542 Been seeing him live since his Continuum tour at the Hollywood Bowl. Always a good sounding show, which is why I go, I want to hear John improvise live. Last show I saw was in Paso Robles, CA in 2017... absolutely killer live version of Queen of California with an amazing jam session of about 2 minutes near the end that just brought the whole song to new elevation levels in terms of quality. Stuff you just don't get on his soundtracks he sells, unless you buy stuff like Where the Light is, or some of the John Mayer Trio stuff, when he was absolutely in his prime, playing and voice wise. His voice nowadays, is pretty much almost all back, he may have lost a note or two on the top of his range, but that's where it's good to let him have David Ryan Harris take over the vocals. Always been impressed with DRH as being a major part of Johns sound, along with Robbie McIntosh.
