Looks like a solution looking for a problem. Maybe ok to have in the car for emergencies.

I have a similar meter a KKMOON100 KKM100. Small little pen, the probe point is really pointy. It isn't a replacement for a proper multimeter imho but it van be a handy tool for small smd stuff or basic diagnosis.

i also have a similar pen type multimeter. They are really useful and if you connect different type of probes to it then it's usufeulness is even better.
@LearnElectronicsRepair2 жыл бұрын
What types of probes can you attach?
@cinkoxid2 жыл бұрын
@@LearnElectronicsRepair For example a needle-type probe or a test lead probe which you use for the little transistor tester devices. I usually just buy a 2mm plug type probe and you can directly connect them to the current probes without changing the probes all the time

not sure on this one. it's budget..so accuracy is going to suffer. but same time, it'll cover the essentials. My on-site kit probably would not include this. and it's bench usefulness would be already overshadowed by proper kit. I think if anything.. for me.. this would serve very well as sturdy 'backup' for site visits. or quickly accessible tool for less intricate stuff like continuity testing etc. .. more of a triage tool than a diagnostic tool. but i'd need to test for myself to be fully sure. Anyway, Thanks very much :-) Very good and helpful review :)

Yeah I tend to agree completely with that judgement and I think it's pretty much what I said when summing up the product

When you put GD107 into diode mode and if there is a short, does it make a beep sound? Thanks

How do you know it doesnt read mV if you didn't test it?

Without at least a Cat 3 (and preferably Cat 4) rating it is no real use to an electrician though the tip shroud looks like they have some safety in mind but on its own it is not enough and the ground lead is not safe for mains use.. It looks too clumsy to me to use on PCB's and the low voltage limit is a bit pointless. . I like the capacitance feature. It's a bit of a jack of all trades and I think they need to decide which camp they are in. As it is I can't see them selling many

I bow to your greater knowledge of H&S as I did mention in the video I am no expert on that, nor am I an electrician. I'll keep the one they sent me in my toolbag as I am sure it will be helpful onsite but I will probably only need it occasionally, and then not to measure mains voltages. Usually I just need to know if a set top box is faulty or if it is the power supply (wall wart) - or to figure out which coax goes from a satellite dish to the receiver. I normally look for the 12V/18V supply on the coax comming from a satellite box or deliberately short one end on the roof (without it connected to a TV or receiver) then go look for a short on the other end of the pile of mainly unused old coax cables behind the pub bar!

@@LearnElectronicsRepair Yes I watched the whole video. People don't always heed warnings about working with mains electricity . I used to design electronics including equipment for electricians so I get a bit cautious when I see some of this test kit which is trying to do everything for everyone. If the input is not designed properly you can get flash over causing a fire. People should remember mains voltage can carry spikes of many KV. They might be only transient and they often get damped down as they travel along the network and into the property but some get through and if someone just happens to have a shitty piece of test equipment hooked up they could get electrocuted and/or burned. You obviously know the risks and have set yourself up to limit risk but anyone just getting into repair should heed your warnings. it amazes me why these companies design this stuff without asking people what they want first . I don't think I have come across any electricians who had the knowledge or the need to fix PCB's down to component level. The KSGER soldering iron is a no brainer to purchase - excellent. However, the PCB in one of mine came loose (it was rattling about ) and when I opened the metal case it was not earthed ! Brilliant iron to use but I was unimpressed with safety. Performance wise though it is a bit better than the Antex iron I bought in 1982 (and it still works !). Now where's that pint of beer .....

@@we-are-electric1445 Apparently this is CAT 3 - it says so on the end of the meter probe CATIII 600V. You can see it in the video at 24:00 I also have an Antex iron in my tool box, I probably bought it around the same time you bought yours. And yes mine does still work too, though it can't compare with my KSGER either Regards the review I think I gave a fair opinion. It's useful enough to have, and it's good enough when you are using the right tool for the right job, It will stay in my tool bag and I am sure it will get used from time to time. Having said that I didn't pay for it, and I am not making any commission on any sold from the link I gave on this video either. Regards the beer - that is well earned 🙂If you ever find yourself in south Gran Canaria give me a shout. You may think I'm being very generous but a pint of beer in a lot of bars here is only €1.50 😅

@@LearnElectronicsRepair I've acquired all sorts of stuff over the years and I never throw it out. It always comes in handy. The trouble is, you forget what you've got ! When stuff breaks (or when I occasionally break it) I put it in boxes to fix later but I'm not fixing stuff fast enough and it occupies more an more space ! I'll have to have a clear out. I've still got a logic pen I bought from Maplin which I still do use though you can't get the replacement valves for it these days 😁 I'm always up for beer (especially if its free). Gran Canaria sounds exciting - spent the last two years getting no further than Manchester or Liverpool !! 😁

Why not an e-ink display if they want to save power...
@theshemullet2 жыл бұрын
E- ink displays might not have a fast enough refresh rate.
@JohnBailey392 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the price it is selling for. E-ink is expensive. And e-ink has a rotten update frequency, so nobody is making displays for test gear from it.

What might be a nice idea is a momentary contact 'bright' button you can push and hold when you can't read the display well due to ambient lighting. They could even make it sound real cool and call it an 'overdrive' button 🤣

The display is a big weakness. It's too thick as well.
