nah still kinda soft as he ran away after being confronted again by orlox as adult hunter and confident with the vampire killer ... a disgrace to all belmonts before him. also crying. it aint manly tears and this aint hokutonoken. lol. his rondo counter part is way more epic and brave. but he slowly redeemed himself after his magic awakens and meeting juste. he deserves to wear the headband now. 😁 kinda wish they kept the rondo era design. but the fusion of sotn redesign looks good too. still hope juste makes a comeback in season 2 in his old HOD design and somehow gaining his magic back too.

Man, I love Richter. After fully completing the Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night duo pack on my PS4 (200 percenting it, I guess you could say), I've definitely come to appreciate Richter as a character, and even more so as a Belmont after watching this.

Richter was definitely the right call to feature alongside Simon in Smash Bros. I also really hope they dive heavily into the scientific revolution in the new Netflix season. Dracula was teased as a scientific genius in the Trevor series but it never quite took center stage.

I think with Elizabeth Bathory being in the Netflix show they're definitely hinting at some sort of apertif that connects the story to an eventual exploration of the clans that form after the Vampire Killer is cursed by Richter's corruption from Shaft during Symphony of the Night. It'd be a perfect segue into a John Morris/Lecarde story especially with Alucard himself likely showing up in a later season of Nocturne when they do get to SotN

No joke I was playing Smash Ultimate with Richter when this popped up lol. Richter is one my fave to main. I like Richter because he's kind of a goofball, love his victory animation where he does the "victory" two finger pose referencing Rondo of Blood anime cutscenes when he rescues the maidens. RoB is easily my fave classic Castlevania. Hate that it's not on Switch along with Symphony of the Night! I'm sorry but Dracula X through the advance collection doesn't count lol. Loved this video! Love learning more about my fave vampire hunter! :D

Honestly i think people are a little too hard on Richter. Sure he did get brainwashed as cursed by shaft and that did have longstanding consequences but i don't think its totally fair to blame the guy for that. He had dutifully defeated Dracula and he thought he killed shaft and banished his spirit, it makes sense he'd think it was over and lower his guard. Shaft did prey on Richter's pride to take control of him but this is hardly a Richter exclusive trait. All belmonts had pride in their abilities and a thirst for battle and glory it's what droves them to be the best of the best even in times when Dracula isn’t present. For a Belmont the greatest thing they can accomplish is to protect the world from Dracula and they are lucky if they get to do it once. Thats not the point of fighting Dracula but its definitely a factor to why they do it. They also only get stronger with each passing generation, their are fewer and fewrr beings even able to challenge them. It could have been any belmont that fell to this manipulation it just happened to be Richter who encountered someone as tenacious and wily as Shaft. And even then it was just mind control. It was only possible because of his pride but not as if Richter was so prideful that he would've done this of his own volition.

I mean, Richter’s corruption didn’t really have any longstanding affects on the family at all. Sure, Richter showed up as the “Whips Memory” but that’s simply because he was the last Belmont to have held the Vampire Killer before it was passed off to the Morris clan. Richter would’ve also shown up to John Morris as well, the only difference is, Jonathan was able to prove to the whip that he was able to wield it by defeating the Whip’s Memory, while John more than likely didn’t, hence why it sapped away his life force slowly while he used it, and eventually killed him. Even in 1798 during the events of Nocturne of Recollection, Richter was still using the Vampire Killer with seemingly no ill effects whatsoever. There’s also the fact that the Nostradamus Prophecy had been around ever since Trevor was in his 60s or 70s, which mainly stated that after a certain point the Belmonts would have to pass the whip off and lay in wait until the Belmont who would fight in the Demon Castle War would appear (which, obviously we know that it was Julius). Also, at the same time, Richter wasn’t the first Belmont to be mind controlled, that honor goes to Soliel, Chris’s son, which happened roughly 204 years prior to Richter’s mind control.

@@Gensolink It could’ve, although it wasn’t really the Belmonts fault they had to disappear, plus, Alucard was still around working with the hidden order just to make sure that nothing got too out of hand, plus the Vampire Killer would’ve been in the hands of the Morris clan before the Belmonts had to vanish from society for training, but at the same time the Morris’ were more than likely in England at the time and would probably be training. And at the same time, The Alucard Spear was also in rotation with the Lecarde/Ricardo family at the same time since the Alucard Spear was made to work with the Vampire Killer. But yes, things could’ve gone very very wrong, but those probably could’ve been avoided if Barlowe didn’t fall victim to Dracula’s influence while he was creating Dominus.

I get it. Richter is the cool anime one. Richter is in SotN. But most important? Come on. The guy has one very generic story (Rondo) and then gets possessed for most of his second appearance so it's not even actually him. Yes he ends up giving the Vampire Killer away but that's all he really does. Trevor is the first to kill Dracula, return the Belmont family to society and start a legend. Simon makes the kills Dracula twice, changes the Belmonts reputation from hated to loved and creates a village which the Belmonts will be linked to from that point on as well as directly playing into the events of his successor's (Juste) storyline. Etc. Richter kills Drac once, and gets possessed. Then he ditches the whip on the Morris family. That's not comparable to Trevor, Simon, Christopher, Julius or Leon.

Nah I think we’ve been shown the most important Belmont is the one who became one through marriage as Sypha gave the bloodline access to magic making her hugely important to the Belmonts. Hell you could argue that while she died before becoming a Belmont Leon’s fiancé Sara Trantoul would be the most important Belmont as without her there would be no vampire killer (both in mission and in weapon) to begin with

Because they changed them already? For starters, you can't really have Dracula in a universe where you already gave the character closure. This is not like the games, they gave him a happy ending so there's no real grounds for the character to return like they would in the games. And that has a domino effect in other aspects.

Race/gender swapping characters is a thing that has been done a lot over the ages. Isaac is one example, and the netflix version is far and away more popular than his CoD equivalent, even among those acquainted with both versions. Historically, while rare, there have been darker skinned people in positions of prominence is European noble circles, and unlike the source, Nocturne seems to take place in a more cosmopolitan setting, where there would be more diversity than in rural Romania. I am a bit more perturbed by Maria appearing to be having a more generic Warren Ellis protagonist personality than rather her Rondo or Sotn counterparts and by the apparent utilisation of multiple plot points from Bloodlines, seemingly reducing the possibility of a show set in that era.

Cv Netflix is not very good as an adaptation, except S1, excluding Trevor’s intro. The show is actually decent as a story on its own, it isn’t a literary masterpiece, but an entertaining and fun show with excellent choreography. Its primary flaw is Warren Ellis, while he is somewhat competent under supervision, with free reign he makes a lot of questionable decisions that hinder the show from reaching its full potential. It doesn’t help that he is a horrible person, either.

@@Multienderguy37 it's not only Warren Ellis fault the characters designer is also at fault for changing the race of characters like Isaac in Castlevania which was turned from a pale red haired man into a bald black man and Annette which was changed from a pale blonde woman into a black woman who's not blonde as well. The character designer for the series is woke, the only thing Isaac has that is the same as games Isaac is the name, he could had created a new character instead of race swapping other characters. I'm back commenting here after watching S3 and S4 and I have to say that S3 was trash, I disliked it, and S4 wasn't as bad but it wasn't good either writing wise, Saint Germain being a villain made no sense, Lenore suicide made no sense it was just bad writing and the better part of S4 was race swapped Isaac, S4 does good things to his character. Let's hope even tho Annette was race swapped by the woke characters designer that the new writer Clive Bradley can deliver a better story than S3 and S4
