Thanks john. Very helpful. I bought that particular slider after watching your in-depth video. I do a lot of photography, mainly rocks and geology outside, and plants indoors. Looking at the world through a camera forces you to pay attention. I wanted to add extra motion to my timelapse clips and this slider is just fine. Your practical suggestions along with a very comprehensive time-lapse review were invaluable. As a retired teacher, I couldn't help admiring your presentation. Thanks again.

I have the same slider. I use my tripod in the centre and use cheap monopods on either end to stabilize it. Works well and it’s lighter than a second tripod.
@JohnMeyer3 жыл бұрын
Great tip!! Since I did this review I've tried using light stands on the ends with a tripod in the middle, but I think monopods would work even better. 👍

Great job. Might want to think about using support bars at each of slider when on tripod. That will help with your end point sag. I just ordered the GVM 120QD. I also ordered thee support bars based off of watching videos like this. So I hope it helps in my case. I know you mentioned this issue, and I wouldn't want to tote 2 tripods as well, but the bars should be a good solution.

Thanks!!! The not really familiar with Sony, but you might want to check all the connections, because it sounds like it's only half pressing the shutter which can be from not being plugged in right.

Excellent tutorial video. My question is on time lapse. I can get it to go thru all the motions, but it doesn't seem to be triggering my camcorder shutter. A sony cx 405. Is there something I should be setting in the camcorder itself? Thanks.

Your are such a talent 🙌🏼 And quite charming as well ;-) Thanks for creating this helpful video 🙏🏻 How much weight do you think is the maximum you can use this with vertically?

Very helpful. I'm stuck on doing a time lapse left to right of a candle burn down. Takes about 7 hours for the candle to burn completely. Any suggestions on settings for that?
@JohnMeyer2 жыл бұрын
Take the length of the final video clip you want in seconds and multiply it by 30 (or 24) to get the number of frames you need. Then take 7 hour and multiply it by 60 twice to get the number of seconds in 7 hours (7x60x60=25200). The devide the total number of seconds in 7 hours by the number of frames you need to get the money interval between shots in seconds. Lets say for a 10 second clip at 30 frames per second, you'll need 300 frames. 25200/300=84 so you would need an interval of 84 seconds between photos. Hope that makes sense.
@JohnMeyer2 жыл бұрын
And you'll need to set speed according to the chart in the description which would be about 80% for 300 photos. I'd also set the camera to take longer exposures (1/2 to 1 second) for each photos so the motion looks smooth.
@JohnMeyer2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a really cool timelapse project! Let me know how it goes. I'd love to see the results.

Awesome review. I seriously want to purchase a slider and was between this and the Zeapon 2 plus. The only issue is Zeapon does not do parallax and I would like this for interview style videos. How is the parallax performance on this slider.
@JohnMeyer3 жыл бұрын
Parallax works well for me. You can see examples of it in the video. I wouldn't get a slider without it, especially for interviews, unless you want to be manually panning the camera the whole time. It can be hard to get a smooth repeatable parallax motion by hand as well.

Hey, do you think it's bad to forcefully bend the rod and then tighten it to what works best for the shot? With the closeup shot for interviews, it's hard to keep the subject in the same part of the frame...
@JohnMeyer3 жыл бұрын
I don't know that it will hurt the rod to bend it a bit as long as you don't bend it so forcefully it bends permanently. For closeup interview shots, I don't think there should be a problem unless you have the slider fairly close with a wider lens. It will look better with a longer lens (around 85mm Full Frame equivalent) and the slider farther Fe m the subject.
