I gave this line a try and it is unbelievably difficult. I have no idea how you do it.

When you pick up your first orb on the initial slope...it leaves behind a buff that gives you more 'endurance' even after using the boost. My rental does not do this and it completely (and I mean completely!) changes the flow of timing boosts compared to your run. What is going there?

You can thank Arenanet for that, you can see that after i begin boosting uphill i toggle a skill on M4 in the hotbar which is a mount skill that refills my endurance for an additional boost, it's a mastery called Bond of Vigor. wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bond_of_Vigor Another mastery that i use is specific to the roller beetle, it's called "Big Air" which is essentially mid-air tricks that also refill your endurance during airtime if timed well, but on the flipside resets your endurance back if you land while still doing them. wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Big_Air Both of these are masteries that you can unlock in the "Crystal Champion" and the "Roller Beetle Mount" mastery tracks if you've purchased the Path of Fire expansion and on top of that the required living world season 4 episodes; "Long Live the Lich" for the Roller Beetle itself and the "A Star to Guide Us" for the Bond of Vigor. Lastly, while it's not a mastery in itself, if a player has not unlocked the first raptor mount from the Path of Fire expansion, the game doesn't update your settings to allow you to disable boosting with your spacebar, until then that option remains hidden. Free to play rental beetles are stuck with having the boost priority bound to the spacebar regardless of if you rebind a secondary key to do the same thing. Why does that matter? Because your jump ability is also stuck on the spacebar, with no ability to move it elsewhere, and this makes it so that a rental beetle can't jump with full endurance because the boost activation claims the priority and so it activates that instead of jumping. You have two abilities bound to the exact same key, and one of them works only when the other is on cooldown. Even if you haven't fully unlocked the beetle, if you own even a single mount you can disable boost on your spacebar, and pretty much every dedicated beetle racer does that because jumping is a very powerful ability when combined with drifting, you can see me do that a couple of times in this video too although this track doesn't allow me to do it as much as most other tracks do. The boost patterns on this track do allow a rental beetle to pull that off as well since if timed right you'll still not be at full endurance during those sections where jumping is viable, but nonetheless if you do happen to have your endurance bar full then it's severely limiting your movement options. Having enabled that option to disable the additional input in the settings, i can jump as many times as i want not only while having full endurance, but even during any point of the boost activation itself without having them interfere with each other. The rental beetles are meant to be a trial version that would give a new player an idea of what it's like to ride a beetle and even race against other players, but all the while they don't know any better that they're actually dealing with much more restricted and limited controls than what dedicated players have access to because rental mounts don't have a single mastery unlocked. A fully unlocked and leveled roller beetle with all the relevant masteries has access to a much much more flexible and straight up easier control and a more relaxed way of racing. I can understand that from the point of view that they'd be hesitant to give brand new accounts access to the same level of comfort and ability that longer time players have invested time and effort to unlock, but it makes it so that new players end up having a completely different experience, but that's brushed off as them not being able to know any better yet and that problem would fix itself later down the line if they become more invested in playing the game and purchasing the DLCs.

Anyway we can see you keybinds to know what mount skills you are using where. Im not trying to change my own keybinds, i just dont know what V or C is. And do you use the turn binds or strafe binds?
@RACEReaperOfficial
@RACEReaperOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
V is boost and C is drift, these are the default binds. If you have your boost on Spacebar and drift on S, you have the conditional mount movement stuff enabled in the options, it's a little checkbox at the bottom of general options. When that box is empty, both C and S will make your beetle drift and V and Spacebar will make you boost. Putting an x in the box will make it so that only V and C use these abilities, and you'll be able to jump with the Spacebar as much as you want even with full endurance without accidentally activating the boost. And i use turn keys but strafe keys also work for the beetle, it's up to your own preference.

In total my keybinds for the beetle are WASD+C+V+Spacebar which are the default binds and then a sidebutton on my mouse for Bond of Vigor. For a lot of people the default binds seem odd and difficult because of how you'd normally place your hand on your keyboard (ring finger on A, middle finger on W, index finger on D) and so they will rebind their keys to a more comfortable and optimized position without really altering their hand placement, but for me it's the opposite. Sometime around when i began racing i realized that i wasn't using my pinky finger at all when i was on my beetle, so instead of rebinding an ability close to it like drift on left Shift, i changed my hand placement to the right by one key's length so that i'd now press down on A with my pinky, W with my ring finger, D with my middle finger, C and V with my index and Spacebar for jump with my thumb. Depending on the keyboard you're using this might be comfortable or not make any sense at all, but in the beginning it felt really weird for me as well until i got used to it.

@@RACEReaperOfficial yeh i dont use conditional mount movements and have Q as my drift and E as my boost button, spacebar still for jump, i think thats default though by unselecting condditonal mount movements. I just ddont understand how your movement is so fluid. ive even tried action cam. i try jumping into my ddrifts but i can never seem to pull off drifts well while boosting.

For most of these techniques the order and timing of your button presses needs to be correct and clean, but it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of them. You also can't forget about the camera control, that is ultimately how you steer the beetle so moving it in tandem with your maneuvers is important, the beetle will ultimately try to orientate towards the direction you're looking at so that allows you to maintain and micromanage your positioning. For example with a hyperboost you should position your camera in the direction you wish to use it, and after that maintain that same angle as you hold the drift+direction key and tap your boost, gently moving your camera extremely slowly towards the side your beetle is facing but not the opposite since that will straighten you out of the drift. As for the jump drifting, the thing most people struggle with is that they don't turn their camera sharp enough during the maneuver, you can't be too fast with it either, the speed of it doesn't matter as much as the angle you achieve. You should time your jump inside of that camera turn movement, always jump only after pressing down your drift. If you swing the camera too early, your beetle turns but your jump doesn't do much. If you swing too late, you'll miss the momentum from the jump. You're looking to slingshot the beetle by combining your drift, jump and the movement of your camera/mouse. If you have Q as your drift, i wonder if that will complicate jumping into your drifts when you're trying to go to the left, do you not need to also hold down A for that? And if you were to try hyperboosting while tilting your beetle to the right side, would you not also need to hold down D for right on top of E for boost and Q for drift? For a hyperboost you'd essentially have to hold down Q as you tap E while also holding down one of the direction keys. For an ACS/drift jump you'd need to hold down a direction key and Q for drift and then tap your spacebar as you turn the camera.

@RACEReaperOfficial

Some kind of teleporting script i imagine, the accounts you see with the few seconds times in my videos i think were all bots that somebody used to mass-farm the daily racing medallions. It's been some months since the last time but we used to see them appear on a daily basis, which is what allowed us to add those accounts to our contacts to see their times. Genious design by Anet as well, since there is literally no other way to see any of this or anything else besides your friends rankings. These accounts would log in at the same spot next to the trial NPC, interact with them and then start teleporting between every checkpoint throughout the track within the span of seconds, and then disappear right after entering the finish.

But for the record there have also been documented cases where the time trial timer itself stops counting you down, and so with the frozen or delayed timer you also end up with a much lower time than should've been possible. It's happened to a lot of my guildmates over the past years, it's most common around the yearly festivals and other content updates when lots of people all log in at the same time and stress the servers. However i don't think this timer glitch is usually severe enough to stall you for the entire length of the track, usually it just turns a 1 minute pace to a 30 second record or something, but not 5 seconds lol
